I just learned Navy Capt. Owen Honors will be permanently relieved of duty Tuesday afternoon, just two weeks before the carrier, the USS Enterprise, departs from its home port at Norfolk, VA to support U.S. combat troop missions in Afghanistan.
Capt. Freak is at the center of a series of antigay and sexually explicit videos produced several years ago and force-shown to male and female of serving onboard the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier. His sophomoric antics will cost Owen Honors his command, a Pentagon official said on Tuesday.
The videos, which include scenes of simulated masturbation, simulated eating of feces and two men as well as two women showering together, were made by Honors and shown as entertainment to some 6,000 sailors in 2006 and 2007. The videos also include slurs against gay men, were disclosed over the weekend by a Norfolk, VA newspaper, The Virginian-Pilot.
On Monday, Aubrey Sarvis, an Army veteran and the executive director of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, said in a statement:
“Capt. Owen Honors was acting more like the president of a frat house rather than the executive officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise.”
I applaud the Pentagon taking swift and decisive action to relieve Capt. Owen Honors of his command.
