Quote of the Day

“Looking at the former restrictions on human rights in our country starting with slavery, women not being able to vote, blacks being counted as two thirds of a human, segregation, no gays in the military (to list a few) all have gone by the wayside. But now here in 2009 same sex marriages are prohibited. I think we will look back in 10, 20, 30 years and be amazed that gays and lesbians did not have the same rights as every one else. How did this ever happen in the land of the free and the home of the brave? Are we really free?” — Brendon Ayanbadejo, NFL linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens

Brendon Ayanbadejo is absolutely correct, and follows my opinion down the line.

  2. DMason says:

It’s good to see someone in the NFL has joined the 21st century. If views like Ayanbadejo can be found in the uber-macho NFL, why is President Obama dragging his feet on repealing DADT and DOMA? Get with the NFL, Mr. President. You’re beginning to look very last century.

Does this mean I have a chance with David Wright???

  4. D.R.Scott says:

Brendon Ayanbadejo sure doesn’t fit the stereotype of a dull-witted NFL player, huh? It’s exhilarating to see a player from one of the toughest football teams in the league proving that you don’t have to be a homophobic jerk to be a man. Besides, anybody stupid enough to call him a “faggot-loving punk” is gonna get their ass kicked.

  5. Brigadoon says:

I’m not a football fan so I’ve never heard of Brendon Ayanbadejo before but it’s refreshing to read his comments. Especially, when you consider the macho reputation the NFL has. Maybe the homophobic GOP congress and the borderline homophobic occupant of the White House needs to take their que from Brendon Ayanbadejo.

  6. The dude’s right, but I’m still not rooting for the fucking Ravens. Goddamn, my team sucks.

    Couldn’t agree more!

  8. bradfrmphnx says:

LMAO Randal…my Cards are sucking right now too, I feel your pain.

  9. Greg says:

I’m with Brigadoon. What a difference it could make having someone in a professional sport such as the NFL making such comments, without any urging from the LGBT community. He’s speaking to a crowd that we sometimes disregard because of the sport’s reputation. Nice words!!
