John McCain, the so-called ‘genuine American war hero and patriot,’ certainly has a demonstrated knack for poor judgment and I’m not talking about Sarah Palin.
Case in point, McCain named William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist, to head his presidential transition team, if by some cosmic joke at humanity’s expense, he is elected president.
Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying effort to clear members of Saddam Hussein’s government if they were convicted of Federal criminal charges.
The lobbying effort occurred in the years following the first Gulf War, when Washington considered Iraq to be a rogue enemy state and a sponsor of terrorism. Timmons dealings on behalf of the deceased Iraqi leader stand in stark contrast to the views of John McCain who has repeatedly stated Saddam Hussein was a sponsor of state terrorism.
This wasn’t a problem until Iraq became the ‘axis of evil’ under W. But as McCain is fixated on Iraq – claiming that having timeline for withdrawal is “surrendering” – he has few options but to fire this guy. I get the feeling that McCain has a ‘shame complex’ because we “lost” the war in Vietnam, so his time in the prison camp was for nothing. This shame complex alone makes him unqualified to be president. While there are many who ‘honorably’ join and serve in the military, there are just as many who join and serve for less than honorable reasons. Regardless of their ‘sacrifices’ they did not fight for my right to criticize. We need to get over those myths.
McCain can’t have it both ways. One day, he’s pro Iraq war, saying the “world is safer because we removed Saddam.” Then the following day, hire a former lobbyist who worked for Saddam Hussein’s government. He’s shockingly inconsistent and erratic.
William Timmons can keep his day job lobbying for whomever he wants because McCain isn’t going to be elected president.
“Keating Five” McCain is a leading instigator of the Iraq war, which is an act of state terrorism.
Saddam was on the American payroll for decades.
During that time, oil was under $20 a barrel and no one in the U.S. paid more than $1.80 a gallon. I find it very curious that as soon as the ‘Kid’ invaded Iraq and destroyed their oil production, petroleum prices skyrocketed and have never returned to pre-Iraq war levels.
Am I alone in thinking this was no accident?
why this story is not all over the media is beyond me
I agree, No Nonsense! I agree! None of the cable outlets will touch this and I don’t know why. It goes to judgment — something McCain lacks and my guess is, even his most ardent supporters would be appalled if they knew it.
Thanks your message has very much helped me:)
