While CNN is “working to confirm,” I can now confirm Muammar Gaddafi, the former Libyan dictator, is dead.

Reuters reports:

Gaddafi died of wounds suffered on Thursday as fighters battling to complete an eight-month-old uprising against his rule overran his hometown Sirte.

“He (Gaddafi) was also hit in his head,” National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta told Reuters.

He had been found hiding in a hole in the ground and had said “Don’t shoot, don’t shoot” to the men who grabbed him.

Gaddafi’s killing strikes me as just desserts. He ordered the 1988 bombing of Pan Am flight 103.

The Boeing 747 named “Clipper Maid of the Seas” was en route from London to New York when the bomb planted in the cargo section exploded killing 270 people.

The death toll included thirty-five students from Syracuse University.

I wonder if Kaddafi’s dead body is about to become fish food at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean? I am fascinated at the dispatch with which the Obama administration is at the forefront of doing away with the dead bodies of their Arab enemies. I mean, it isn’t like Kaddafi has a family who might want to bury him their way now is it?

  2. feminazi says:

“Don’t shoot, don’t shoot.” Well the rebels did shoot and the monster of Tripoli is dead. I can’t say I am bothered by this either. Gaddafi was a brutal thug and he deserved a no less fitting end.

Does this mean our military presence in the region will come to an end now?

  4. R.J. says:

What a coward. He hid in a hole just like that rat Saddam Hussein.

  5. Gindy53 says:

While he deserved to die eventually, it is too bad he won’t be able to rat out the shit that enabled him to prosper, the shit in every first world nation that is. But don’t worry, that same shit will find other dictators to help make sure they profit from the people’s suffering.
    Dead men tell no tales….

I’m certain Barry Soetero will attempt to use the death of Qaddafi for reelection but in reality, the nationalities who led the NATO effort were France and the UK.

So, I won’t be saying ‘Well Done, Barry’ but instead, ‘Viva La France’ and ‘God Save the Queen!’

No 70 virgins for you, towelhead.

  9. For me, the world is a better place without Gaddafi in it.

For the crime of ordering the bombing of Pan Am 103 and the senseless deaths of 270 people, in my opinion, Gaddafi got what he deserved.

  10. Jim says:

What a vile, vile character. I’m delighted to see him gone.

Libya has the most oil of any nation in Africa.

Next is Nigeria. I wonder how long until Obama sends U.S. troops (in an advisory role, naturally) to Nigeria to help rid them of their autocratic president?

Obama can claim his was just acting on behalf of the Libyan people but anyone with a brain knows he was acting on behalf of Exxon Mobil, Chevron and Hess.

You sure he’s dead? I thought Fox was gonna have him on the new show…. Dancing with Dictators. I Think Dick Cheney is scheduled, too.
