Call it, a study in contrasts.
At 5:40pm on Sunday, a powerful EF-4 tornado a mile wide took aim at Joplin, MO, a city of 50,000, leveling everything in its path. The huge twister destroyed buildings, upturned vehicles and flattened neighborhoods. One quarter of Joplin was destroyed. Patient medical records and x-rays from St. Joseph Medical Center were discovered 70 miles away. At least 117 people died and 2,000 were injured.
Where was President Obama at this time of tragedy?
He and the First Lady Michele were getting their were getting their taste on for the royal lifestyle. The president and his wife are in London, ostensibly for a state visit. The Obamas were welcomed like visiting royalty with a 62-gun salute, a limey rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, and a private lunch with Queen Elizabeth. The Obamas also met privately with newlyweds William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The Obamas will spend two nights in the Buckingham Palace.
