Lowe’s Pulls Ads From O’Reilly Factor

Lowe’s, the second-largest big box home improvement retailer has pulled its ads off FOX Noise’s The O’Reilly Factor! News Hounds has the details:

Dear Lowe’s Customer,

Thank you for your comments regarding the program, The O’Reilly Factor.

Lowe’s has strict guidelines that govern the placement of our advertising. Our company advertises primarily in national, network prime-time television programs and on a variety of cable outlets.

Lowe’s constantly reviews advertising buys to make certain they are consistent with its policy guidelines. The O’Reilly Factor does not meet Lowe’s advertising guidelines, and the company’s advertising will no longer appear during the program.

We are dedicated to providing the best service, products, and shopping environment in the home improvement industry. All three of these are very important to our business, and our customers will always be our number one priority.

We appreciate your contacting us, and hope this information addresses your concerns.

Thank you,
Lowe’s Customer Care

Will HomeDepot do what’s right and follow the competition?

Corporate America doesn’t like controversy and scandal. They’re the opposite of Hollywood who thrives on that type of publicity. O’Reilly has been putting his foot in his mouth for years and from what I read, his advertisers have been dwindling for fear of being associated with his views. Losing Lowe’s is a big one though. I hope others follow in their footsteps.

  2. Lawrence says:

One lesbian gang fantasy too many for Lowe’s, eh?

  3. TOM339 says:

I always see lesbians at Lowe’s.

Lowe’s is wise to recognize this and pull the ads from Falafelboy’s program. Far too often, he’s insulted segments of the American population with his stupid and insensitive take on reality.

I didn’t know there was a boycott planned for Lowe’s. How about the rest of Bill O’Reilly’s advertisers? Where do I signup? The only way to shut this stupid shit up is get him in his wallet. It works everytime.

  4. Bloggernista says:

This is part of a larger effort by progressive bloggers to strike back at Loofah Boy O’Reilly for his attacks against us and in particular against DailyKos.

O’Reilly is nothing more than your average bully. He just has Fox Noise to use as a megaphone. He is going to find out that he has messed with the wrong crowd.

That’s true, feminazi. Corporations run from controversy and O’Reilly is nothing but controversy.

  6. mbmdl says:

I think the recent lesbian gang fracas may cause companies to reconsider running ads on Billo’s program. I never watch his program so I have no idea what companies do business with him. One thing is certain, corporate America is easily scared off by kooks and there is no bigger kook on TV than Billo.

Yeah, sign up for that Fox Attacks program <a href=”www.foxattacks.com/bloggers”here. They’re not up and running yet, but they’ve already got a semi-big victory. (I say “semi” because apparently Lowe’s had agreed to pull its advertising back in January, and that didn’t last very long. We’ll see if it does this time.)

  8. Brad says:

    D’oh! Crazy html.

Hey Christopher, did you happen to notice that your post here is featured on the front page of Technorati today? Wow! *thumbs up*

Home Depot gives money to Fox News, so it’s nice to see Lowe’s stepping up to the plate by “saying” that they don’t support reich wing hate speech and liars & deceivers over there at Fox News!

  10. kayinmaine says:

Ooops….*blushing & pushing skirt down*….you’re one of my ‘favorited’ blogs at Technorati and that’s why your post is featured on the front page, Christopher. I hope I didn’t give you a heart attack! LOL I know I was thrilled to see you up there though. 🙂

  11. Christopher says:

    Hi Kay,

Wow! No, I hadn’t seen it. Thanks for the heads up! Very, very cool! 🙂

  12. Joe in Colorado says:

I think this is great and I feel good about supporting Lowe’s. I always thought they had better mechandise anyway but now that they’ve kicked Falafel to the curb, I know they have a conscience too.

  13. Suzie-Q says:

Good for Lowes! Hopefully others will follow their lead… 😉

  14. phil_in_ny says:

    Good, Good!
