Rep. Michelle Bachmann isn’t the only member of the Bachmann family bringing the crazy. Hubby, Dr. Marcus Bachmann, who runs a Christian counseling center that gives advice to parents worried their kids might be gay says, “Gays are barbarians who need to be educated.”

I don’t know if the ex-gay services Dr. Marcus Bachmann offers has driven any gay or lesbian teen in Minnesota to commit suicide, a la, Dr. George Rekers, but I think it is very important we notify the Minnesota Board of Psychology that one of their own is a loose canon.

Dr. Marcus Bachmann is an dangerous homophobe. Just because he has a degree to practice doesn’t mean he should be seeing patients of any kind. The American Psychiatric Association Board of Trustees voted to remove homosexuality as a disorder category from the DSM back in 1973. So his views are uninformed and ignorant of the governing body who regulates psychiatry. He needs to be viewed by the Minnesota board and his license pulled.

The threshold of insanity has finally been reached.
What is wrong with the Tea Party that they embrace this nutcase woman and her husband? No one in their right mind could possibly believe Michelle Bachmann is suited for any elected office and her husband shouldn’t be allowed patient suffering with mental health issues.
I do not think he is a licensed psychologist. On his website he claims a “Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology” from Union Graduate Institute in Ohio. They are a correspondence school and have never given such a degree. They have a Ph.D. in “Interdisciplinary Studies” and an unaccredited Psy.D. At one time they gave a two-year Ph.D. in “Arts and Sciences.”
Most likely his license (if he has one) is based on his MA from Regent University. He doesn’t list any license, though, preferring that people assume he must be a psychologist because of the Ph.D.
If he is not licensed, he should be brought up on charges. If he is licensed (more likely), his licensing board should be made aware of the way that he misrepresents his degree.
The anti-gay therapists have long been discredited as dangerous hacks who do far more harm than help. They ply methodology that ends up destroying their patient and yes, many end up committing suicide. It’s a ghastly, 11th century approach to a non-problem.
I’ve never been able to grasp why people like Michelle and Marcus Bachmann are obsessed with gay people? They seem to devote an inordinate amount of time thinking about us. I rarely give two cents of thought or energy to straight people and I don’t think of ways to change them. Straight people can be very peculiar.

I don’t get it either, Randy. Native cultures more-or-0less treated gay people like they treated anyone else. They also seem to have recognized that the gay tendency is something one is born with, so gay kids weren’t pressed into behaving as something they were not inclined to be. It wasn’t till the white folks and their Bibles arrived that homophobia came to the New World.
I think Dr. Marcus saw 300 and Gladiator one too many times to come up with that comment.

Here’s the reality on mainstream Christian counseling:
Christian counseling “is for Christians” who face various struggles. A Christian is one who has surrendered their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. A Christian holds to God’s word and holds to the truths of scripture. Marcus Bachmann obviously is a Christian counselor (It says it right on the sign to his office). Those who are in the homosexual lifestyle who consult any mainline Christian counselor will receive Biblical counseling spoken in love. According to God’s word homosexuality is a sin and falls right in line with other sins such as adultery, lust etc… Homosexuality is not God’s plan. That is not only Biblical but obvious to see in nature and in the whole matter of pro-creation. I commend Bachmann for seeking to make a real difference. This is not “homophobia” or “hate speech” this is a counselor devoting his life to making a positive Biblical impact in the lives of believers.
Mr. Bachmann does NOT have a license to practice therapy, Psychology, or do counseling in the State of Minnesota. Also, he legally cannot oversee the therapy of anyone with whom his licensed staff is working. He may do spiritual counseling as a minister if he has a congregation, but that is not what his own website indicates.

PS…bachmann and her closet queen hubby are serious crazy whack-jobs, and for these mutant sub humans to be allowed to have any kind of voice is repugnant. She is an ex irs attorney that went out of her way to punish the poor, and her in denial closet queen hubby is taking Medicare payments for his fraudulent practice…these two are the worst examples of what is passing for human these days
The only way Marcus Bachmann can legally practice counseling of any kind is with a license issued from one of the four State of Minnesota Boards. Those being Marriage and Family, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work. He cannot hide behind a holey cloak of Ministerial Counseling because he does not have a congregation and has not gone through any accredited ministerial training. If he had, he would have posted that information on his bio. It is illegal for him to do any Clinical Counseling, nor can he supervise the counseling casework of any of his licensed staff members. He never completed the required supervised portion of Board Licensing, in order to receive a license to legally practice in Minnesota. He is practicing illegally, a scofflaw of the laws of Minnesota.
“Gays are barbarians who need to be educated.” No, it’s you, the close-minded Christians who need to be educated. Being gay, in this century, isn’t wrong. Being a homophobe is. So, please, “educate” me with your all knowing knowledge of us “homosexual barbarians”, and HOW we need to be educated. Please, I’m intrigued.
