Rumsfeld Flees France Fearing Arrest

What’s better than discovering a neoconservative thug like former Secretary of State, Donald Rumsfeld, was forced to flee France fearing arrest for torture and human rights abuses?

World News reports:

Former US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld fled France today fearing arrest over charges of “ordering and authorizing” torture of detainees at both the American-run Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the US military’s detainment facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, unconfirmed reports coming from Paris suggest.

US embassy officials whisked Rumsfeld away yesterday from a breakfast meeting in Paris organized by the Foreign Policy magazine after human rights groups filed a criminal complaint against the man who spearheaded President George W. Bush’s “war on terror” for six years.

Under international law, authorities in France are obliged to open an investigation when a complaint is made while the alleged torturer is on French soil.

According to activists in France, who greeted Rumsfeld shouting “murderer” and “war criminal” at the breakfast meeting venue, US embassy officials remained tight-lipped about the former defense secretary’s whereabouts citing “security reasons”.

Anti-torture protesters in France believe that the defense secretary fled over the open border to Germany, where a war crimes case against Rumsfeld was dismissed by a federal court. But activist point out that under the Schengen agreement that ended border checkpoints across a large part of the European Union, French law enforcement agents are allowed to cross the border into Germany in pursuit of a fleeing fugitive.

“Rumsfeld must be feeling how Saddam Hussein felt when US forces were hunting him down,” activist Tanguy Richard said. “He may never end up being hanged like his old friend, but he must learn that in the civilized world, war crime doesn’t pay.”

International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) along with the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR), and the French League for Human Rights (LDH) filed the complaint on Thursday after learning that Rumsfeld was scheduled to visit Paris.

I’ve been home on the couch all day with a cold and not one of the so-called cable news channels menetioned this story.

Appaarently, Rumsfeld, et al, from the Bush cabal receive a pass from the ROM/MSM. Even after they’re out of the Bush administration, spending their days counting their ill-gotten money from war profiteering.

Heads Up Christopher, a new GOP Sex Scandal is coming:

Larry Flynt, editor and publisher of Hustler magazine, just told FOX Business Network’s Neil Cavuto that he’s “hoping to expose a bombshell” that will stand “Washington and the country on its head.” Within the next week or two, he says his magazine will expose a sex scandal of huge proportions involving a prominent United States Senator. Flynt refused to comment on the Senator’s political affiliation, but alluded that he or she is a Republican.

  3. Christopher says:

    Larry,

Can’t wait. Larry Flynt ALWAYS delivers and the GOP is a rich source of shameless hypocrisy.

  4. Randy Arroyo says:

Rumsfeld is one evil SOB. The idea of him running free and not held accountable for Iraq and Abu Ghraib makes me furious. If he doesn’t do jailtime then there is no justice in the world.

The war is both a war of aggression and an act of genocide. All of the politicians and bureaucrats responsible for the war are criminals under international law and are subject to prosecution in any country in the world for the rest of their lives. There is nothing US law can do to shield them if they travel law. Only US force can protect them, but for how long?

  6. who tipped him off?

What a shame the French didn’t get him before he had the opportunity to slither out of the country like the snake he is.

I don’t watch television much, but if they have a public hanging for Rummy Mc Stumble, I might have to tune in simply out of morbid curiosity.

  9. dad2059 says:

Rummy the mummy will spend the rest of his misbegotten days on the run from justice.

Bu$hco won’t though. Once they are ensconced in Paraguay, we’ll never get them out. Central and South America have always been the refuge of dictators past.

But that might change. Nations like Venezuala and Bolivia are forming new super alliances to balance out the Empire of the North. Bu$hco might not be as safe as they think they are.

  10. Idaho Librul says:

Rummy the Dummy is a vile, sadistic murderer who should be caught by the stasi and brought to trial.

If he’s found guilty, he should be executed.

He’s the Mastermind of an orchestrated program of institutionalized torture resulting in thousands of deaths. That the people of the United States don’t understand this is a mystery to me.
