The Catholics Have a New Pope

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

And he’s every bit as horrible as the last Pope.

Please meet former Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina. He has chosen the papal name Pope Francis.

Here are the fascinating factoids about him:

☛ He opposes gay marriage and abortion
☛ He’s 76 years old
☛ He’s the son of Italian immigrants
☛ He’s the first Latin American pope and the first from the Americas
☛ He’s known for his advocacy on behalf of the poor

This is what the beady-eyed weasel said in a letter about same-sex marriage:

“Let’s not be naive, we’re not talking about a simple political battle; it is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God.”

Nice. So it looks like the Roman Catholic Church will remained mired in the 10th century and the hopes of Catholics around the world for a more modern, inclusive church have been dashed once again.

The Catholic Church reminds me of Republicans. The more they lean to the far, right, the more they drive people away and their message becomes irrelevant. This pope is a lost opportunity to reverse their shrinking base and revitalize their message. In another 100 years, the Catholic Church will no longer exist.

“This is what the beady-eyed weasel said in a letter about same-sex marriage”

    ROFLMAO! I love it. 🙂

  3. Is he a shoe whore and closeted like the last Pope?

  4. Rachel says:

I guess this means Pope Francis will have to keep his hot, Italian boyfriend on the DL? By the way, Christopher, welcome back! You were missed during the move back to California.

  5. okjimm says:

ya, but he is not officially Pope until he throws out the first Egg of Easter……..then he hops around leaving Boy Scout Cookies in baskets and stuff, right?

  6. Adirondacky says:

So loving, devoted gay couples are evil to this prick? Good to know. He can be ignored now.

  7. Peace Nick says:

Hey, Pope Francis. Your home country of Argentina already has marriage equality.

What a dip shit. He’s out of touch with his own country, most Europeans (except Poland), most U.S. Catholics and even Mexico. His reign is going to be a disaster.

  8. SmaIam says:

“In 2010, he described a government-supported law to legalize marriage and adoption by same-sex couples as “a war against God” and “a maneuver by the devil.”

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

  9. fran says:

    WIKI sez:

Bergoglio has affirmed church teaching on homosexuality, including that “men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies must be accepted with respect and compassion.”

He opposes same-sex marriage, and strongly, but ultimately unsuccessfully, opposed legislation introduced in 2010 by the Argentine Government to allow same-sex marriage, calling it a “real and dire anthropological throwback.”
In a letter to the monasteries of Buenos Aires, he wrote:
    (same bit you quoted)
“Let’s not be naïve, we’re not talking about a simple political battle; it is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God.”

“Father of Lies” is a reference to the Devil from John 8:44.

Bergoglio has also stated that adoption by same-sex couples is a form of discrimination against children.

Yep another out of touch, old guy pope. Hmm guess he was absent for the “judge not” part of religion.
In other news, a few women staged a protest against the fact no woman would be considered for Pope, by staging a topless protest.

So which his it Pope F?? Compassion & acceptance or the devil & adoptions not allowed- Don’t think he can have it both ways. Blowing smoke indeed.

  10. Unconditional1 says:

Another ignorant Catholic, for Dope. And we we don’t recommend “smokin this shit!”

  11. Bill Hussein O'Reilly says:

    Same shit, different asshole.

  12. Randy Arroyo says:

So Francis is anti-abortion, anti-same-sex marriage and opposes gay couples adopting. Yep, he’s Catholic. I’ve come to the conclusion a prerequisite of being Pope is opposing everything. Can’t wait to see him sweep the next pedophile priest scandal under the carpet.

  13. Did he see his shadow? Is there six more weeks ’til spring?!

  14. feminazi says:

This man opposes gay marriage, gay adoption, contraception and abortion. From what I’ve read, he’s an Argentine version of the previous pope. Catholics hoping and praying for a change at the top will be woefully disappointed. It’s said failure to change and evolve results in nature eliminating a species. It appears this is the direction the Catholic church is headed.

  15. TOM339 says:

One-in-three Catholics stop practicing the faith and leave the church.

This is a terrible record and suggests something is wrong at the top. We are living in very exciting times full of discovery and change. Our knowledge of science, the universe and medicine has never been greater.

Yet the Vatican chugs along like they’re living in the 8th century. I simply don’t understand why they refuse to modernize and change with the times.

  16. Estacada says:

Pope Francis compared gay adoption to child abuse. And Catholics are celebrating this man because he carries his own luggage?

From what I’ve read, Francis is just another Benedict XVI.

  17. Abbey Peripatetic says:

Now we’re learning Pope Francis has a closet full of skeletons from his days as Archbishop of Buenos Aires.

Jorge Bergoglio, the former Archbishop of Buenos Aires, failed to protect priests who challenged the Argentine dictatorship earlier in his career, during the 1976-1983 “dirty war”, and that he has said too little about the complicity of the Church during military rule.

The allegations centre around a time before Bergoglio became a bishop, when he was leader of the Jesuits in Argentina. Two priests kidnapped by the military government alleged Bergoglio did not protect them when he had the chance.

If true, he’s really just a common coward. How ironic he’s now the spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic church.

  18. DB says:

The only way any Pope, not just Francis, is going to change that particulars chruch’s dogmatic stance on gay marriage and abortion is by throwing out the bible. When that is done it will be easy to endorse same sex marriage as well as total acceptance of killing of in-utero babies at any stage of development. Personally I don’t see that happening until the next Pope turns out to be the anti-Christ. That is if you believe in that kind of stuff.
