Sunday, November 4, 2012

Nate Silver, the highly respected founder of FiveThirtyEight weighs in on President Obama’s chances of winning reelection. Looks like Ann Romney measured for new carpets and drapes for the White House too soon.

President Obama now has a better than a 4-in-5 favorite to win the Electoral College, according to the FiveThirtyEight forecast. His chances of winning it increased to 83.7 percent on Friday, his highest figure since the Denver debate and improved from 80.8 percent on Thursday.

  1. Joe in Colorado says:

Nate Silver’s organization is usually correct. If Silver gives Obama a percentage advantage of 83% then I feel confident I will wake up on Wednesday, Nov. 7th, 2012 with President Obama in the White House. Plus, I loathe Romney

  2. The Real Adam says:

I agree with Joe in Colorado about the stellar work by Nate Silver. I know Silver said this week that President Obama’s “firewall” of Colorado, Ohio, Virginia and Florida is holding.

The whole point is, without these states, Romney can’t reach 270.

  3. Marburg says:

“Folks I want to remind you, this is the end of daylight savings time tonight. It’s Mitt Romney’s favorite time of the year because he gets to turn the clock back.” – Vice President Joe Biden, quoted by the New York Times, at a rally in Colorado.

  4. Rachel says:

I can’t wait to vote on Tuesday.

  5. ChiTOM says:

Nate Silver is a serious pollster and his organization is impeccable. Unlike Scott Rasmussen, who always skews to Republicans — think John McCain, and he’s always wrong. If Silver says Obama will win reelection, Obama will win reelection.

  6. Mets Fan says:

Ohio and Virginia are critically important for President Obama.

Looking at the polls, some 48 hours out, I think the president will crush Romney in Ohio but the race will be close in Virginia. Nonetheless, President Obama should carry Virginia handily.

  7. Dave says:

Mets Fan, Obama does not need VA. All he needs are OH, NV, and WI to put him over the 270 bar.

  8. fran says:

Liking those odds. Wish we could fast forward to a Romney defeat.
