New York Times’ Nate Silver Skyrockets Obama Chances Of Winning Reelection

Thursday, November 1, 2012

What a great analysis of the presidential race just five days before election day.

Nate Silver, the respected creator of FiveThirtyEight just increased President Obama‘s chances of winning to 79%, with a whopping 300 Electoral College votes.

270 Electoral College votes are needed to become president.

President Obama’s lowest chance of winning was put at 61.1% on October 12, and it’s been steadily climbing ever since.

Silver today points to President Obama’s battleground states “firewall” holding, good news for Mr. Obama’s hopes of winning the electoral college vote, the one that truly matters on Nov. 6th.

Meanwhile, all the rightwing wackos are attacking Nate Silver. They’ve said he can’t count, is incompetent and even said he’s gay, as if sexual orientation has anything to do with counting polls.

  1. This is great news. I’m looking forward to hearing the phrase “President Re-Elect Barack Obama” at 8:01pm PST next Tuesday night.

  2. DMason says:

After the first dreadful debate, I thought Obama’s chances of reelection was in the shitter. But now, I am feeling very confident. Reading Nate Silver’s analysis of the election is clear, dispassionate and logical. Obama will win. Period.

  3. Rachel says:

Gallup recently asked this and it was 54/34 in favor of President Obama. Romney has no chance of reaching 270.

  4. QC says:

“Skyrockets” may be overstating it but it’s great to see Nate having Obama’s chances of winning moving steadily within hailing distance of pre-debate highs.

  5. Estacada says:

300 Electoral College votes is a comfortable advantage.

Like David said, after the first debate, my heart sunk and I became worried but no more. President Obama is skyrocketing to victory and Mitt Romney is fading into the muck of the lunatic right.

  6. Randy Arroyo says:

I like Nate Silver’s enthusiastic Electoral count. But why is NBC’s Chuck Todd reporting Obama will only get 259? I just saw it on the NBC Nightly News.

  7. Marcus Ybanez says:

So Nate Silver is gay because he’s crunched the numbers and the Electoral map gives President Obama 300 votes — 30 more than he needs to win reelection?

This makes less sense than putting Sarah Palin in the VP spot. Are conservatives really this stupid?

  8. Harry says:

The Republicans are running out of people to blame for selecting Mitt Romney their candidate.

  9. Nate Silver is a very courageus young man. In these times anyone who sticks their head up and speaks good sense is going to be attacked. What, exactly, does sexuality have to do with voting?
