Here are the latest polls from the several key battleground states. President Obama enjoys the lead in all of them except Florida:
Florida: Romney 50%, Obama 49% (Gravis)
Iowa:: Obama 49%, Romney 47% (Public Policy Polling)
Michigan: Obama 47%, Romney 47% (Foster McCollum)
Nevada: Obama 51%, Romney 47% (Public Policy Polling)
Ohio: Obama 49%, Romney 44% (Time)
Virginia: Obama 51%, Romney 46% (Public Policy Polling)
Wisconsin: Obama 51%, Romney 45% (Public Policy Polling)
Obama is five points ahead of Romney in Ohio? Then, Romney doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning this election. No Republican has won the presidency without winning Ohio. This race is basically over. Thank goodness!
Barring some terrible, unforeseen disaster on the part of the Obama campaign, I think his reelection chances look great. Romney? Not so much.
These numbers are great for President Obama and Vice President Biden. I am feeling better about the outcome of the election.
But, that’s not to say I wish Election Day was next Tuesday. I want it over with.
Especially redeeming if Obama also wins Ryan’s home state of Wisconsin.
As Rendaculous pointed out, no Republican has won the presidency without winning Ohio. Romney is lagging behind President Obama in Ohio so his chances to 270+ don’t look good. By contrast, President Obama has several paths to 270+ which spells reelection.
Remember that with Bush vs. Gore, a mysterious 600,000 votes “magically” appeared in Ohio, (when Bush was trailing badly) and as we came to find out the voting machines were owned, operated, and unilaterally CONTROLLED, by a Republican owned company.
