A Wall Street Journal/NBC made poll made headlines recently that showed Mitt Romney capturing 0.0% of the African-American vote. The “big ten” party simply isn’t.
Enter Mia Love. A radical, rightwing conservative Mormon. Ms. Love also happens to be black.
The daughter of Haitian immigrants and a Republican congressional candidate in Utah. If she wins, she would be the first-ever black Republican woman to win a seat in Congress.
Ms. Love is currently the mayor of Saratoga Springs, UT. She wowed the largely white crowd at the Republican National Convention in Tampa with a speech that stressed self-reliance:
“The America I grew up knowing was centered in self-reliance and filled with the possibilities of living the American dream.”
An ardent conservative who converted to Mormonism, is challenging Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson, a six-term incumbent. Cook Political Report rates that race a tossup.
