The GOP’s Token Love

Raised in New York, Mia Love is the Republican Mayor of Saratoga Springs, UT

A Wall Street Journal/NBC made poll made headlines recently that showed Mitt Romney capturing 0.0% of the African-American vote. The “big ten” party simply isn’t.

Enter Mia Love. A radical, rightwing conservative Mormon. Ms. Love also happens to be black.

The daughter of Haitian immigrants and a Republican congressional candidate in Utah. If she wins, she would be the first-ever black Republican woman to win a seat in Congress.

Ms. Love is currently the mayor of Saratoga Springs, UT. She wowed the largely white crowd at the Republican National Convention in Tampa with a speech that stressed self-reliance:

“The America I grew up knowing was centered in self-reliance and filled with the possibilities of living the American dream.”

An ardent conservative who converted to Mormonism, is challenging Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson, a six-term incumbent. Cook Political Report rates that race a tossup.

The RNC had their detectives out searching for a Mia Love for months. Her presence is proof, damn it, the GOP is the most diverse and inclusive political party in America.

  2. Joe in Colorado says:

    Get Mia Love! 😉

  3. Brigadoon says:

Mia Love? Sounds like a stripper.

  4. stradella says:

Just because Mia was the only sister in the room with braids doesn’t translate into acceptance.

Sweety hasn’t learned she will still be mistaken for a waitress or server by those white Republicans in the room singing a bad version of ‘Amazing Grace’ along with the Oak Ridge Boys.

Mia never be invited to sleep in the Big House. She will always be their token.

  5. Tiny Dancer says:

President Obama will still be elected to a second term.

  6. The Real Adam says:

From Saratoga Springs, UT to FOX News.

I’ll bet $50 Ms. Love will be the newest political pundit in Murdock’s chicken coop. FOX loves their black conservatives: Herman Cain, Michael Steele, Amy Holmes, Artur Davis, Armstrong Williams, and Niger Innis.

  7. Jim says:

YYYYYYCCCCCCHHHHHHH! Where do they find them? Oh, that’s right, in Utah.

  8. Rachel says:

What I can never understand about Republicans is, they always look miserable and mean. Mia Love looks like she cut cut-a-bitch if you opposed her. Does anyone see it?

  9. hunnerwoof says:

If Mia Love isn’t recognizing she’s being used she probably shouldn’t be leading anything. If there’s any question about it, simply show me another 18 month small town mayor who got a prime time speaking spot at the convention. And, lest we get caught up in her self-reliance rhetoric and her patting herself on the back about balancing her city’s budget, we need to remember she did that with property tax increases. Oh, and she accepted a 40% raise.
