Spirit Airlines flight #310, is a 5 hr. nonstop from Los Angeles for Ft. Lauderdale.
Flight #310 departed Los Angeles last Saturday at 10PM but, thanks to an unruly 81-year old passenger who forced an emergency stop in Houston, passengers didn’t arrive in Ft. Lauderdale until the following day some 19 hours later.
The 81-year-old passenger, who is blind, was kicking and screaming and was taken into custody, but later released.
Passengers were kept on the tarmac for several hours until they were finally allowed off. Once at the terminal, the airline said passengers would be shuttled to Dallas – a five hour bus trip, to catch another flight.
But angry passengers rebelled and began yelling and screaming. Theresa Shaviano recorded the confrontation on her cell phone camera.
“It was terrible. It was unreal. It was painful,” she said. The airline eventually decided to fly in another plane.
Spirit Airlines consistently ranks dead-last in passenger satisfaction.

This is wrong on so many levels. I’m sorry the disruptive passenger is 81-years old and blind but his behavior was a violation of FAA law.
Another example why I stopped flying. When I want to see my kids, I gas up my Toyota and drive from Connecticut to Virginia. It’s an easy, 8 hour drive and I can stop and eat and see the sights.
I don’t fly because I refuse to be a TSA victim. It’s that simple.
Right say you, Harry.
Your TSA choices are two: 1.) get blasted by back-splatter radiation at the check-in or, 2.) let a TSA pervert have hand-sex with you before hundreds or people trying to board their flight.
The system is broken and no one in either the airline industry or in Washington seems to be able to fix it.

Couldn’t you almost drive from LA to FL in the that amount of time? Ridiculous.
Rachel – I don’t think you could drive from LA to Ft. Lauderdale in 19 hours but you could go about halfway.
In any case, this type of delay is totally unacceptable. Why do Americans tolerate his nonsense?
Isn’t this the douchebag airline that refused to fly soldiers free to meet their families after coming back from Afghanistan? They suck.
