“Don’t Re-Nig in 2012” Causes Web Firestorm

Saturday, March 17, 2012

A picture of a bumper sticker appearing on Facebook has caused a web firestorm.

The bumper sticker says “Don’t Re-Nig in 2012” and in smaller print reads “Stop repeat offenders. Don’t’ reelect Obama!” The sticker also features an image of the Obama campaign logo crossed out.

I’ve never understood why Republicans can’t take President Obama to task for his policies without mentioning race? Are they really that lame? I guess so.

  1. feminazi says:

Not as offensive as the Tea Party signage showing the Obamas as chimpanzees but almost.

  2. Unconditional1 says:

Ugly and vile! The GOP has lost all decency. A bunch of hacks trying to out-extreme the others…only to have their ass kicked by the Chi-Town Bammer in November.

  3. Marcus Ybanez says:

The anti-Obama crowd with an education are laying claim “renig” is an alternative spelling of renege.

Of course, if you used “renig” in a high school English paper 99.9% of instructors would ding you you for incorrect spelling. This bumper sticker is without question racist in nature. Funny, we never saw anything remotely similar in 2004 vis a vis George W. Bush?

  4. onefly says:

The left/me was brutal to the killer chimp, the sonofabitch and his buds deserved it all and to this day as well. That’s mean as hell but tough shit! Treasonous bastards get no mercy. Not nice but within my guidelines anyway.

This is not the same – not even close because it is racist and this is where these people every fucking one of them is coming from. Besides the bama’s don’t have chimp like tendencies – the killer bush did.

There’s little if any respect left for any of these DC types elected or not. Hurt feelings – good. Race seldom enters the picture for me. OTC is a equally bigoted site even against myself.

When the smoke clears from this will the real issues start to be talked about?? Fuck no! We’re so screwed and don’t even know it.

  5. Disgusting! How greatly this country has deteriorated!

  6. Brigadoon says:

This dumb-ass bumper sticker smells like something Mitt Romney’s son is behind.

  7. Estacada says:

Remember this Tea Party sign? And they’re not racists?

  8. Matteo says:

No, I hadn’t seen that sign. But for anyone who doesn’t think the U.S. is a scary place needs to watch this video. I lock my door at night.

  9. O’Brien,

In honor of St. Paddy’s Day, you’ve been banned, asswipe. You see, I’m the Big Dog and this is my house. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWW, Indeed.

  10. Arizona Leatherneck says:

Obama will be reelected in November and the GOP will slither back under their dark, slimy rocks.

Look at their crazy field? Romney the Mormon? Opus Dei Santorum? Three-wives Gingrich? Tin Hat Paul? I’ve watched politics for 20+ years and I just don’t believe this group of wackos is the best they have to offer the American people?

Maybe corporate America finds a warm fluid running down its leg when they look at the Republican field but for the majority of the country, their field is a damned freak show.

  11. bill says:

    Bumper Sticker:

Good for them where do I get one?

Obama is throwing this country back into the stone age so maybe the chip pic is closer o the truth that they realize!

  12. wandangel says:

How do you know for sure that this car belongs to a Republican? There are plenty of Democrats who now dislike Obama intensely also. It doesn’t pay to asume…it can reach back and bite you in the…well, you know where!

  13. Frank in Castaic says:

I run hot and cold on Mr. Obama but, this bumper sticker is clearly racially charged and not anything I would put on my car for obvious reasons.

  14. wandangel says:

Nor would I put it on my car. My point was that without complete proof, he (and all the others on this blog) should not take it as Gospel that this sticker was either printed by a Republican or put on a Republican’s car.

  15. Adirondacky says:

wandangel – Or proof that it wasn’t printed by a Republican or put on a Republican’s car. Logic might dictate that it is extremely unlikely a Democrat would print or don such a bumper sticker.

  16. wandangel says:

Well, maybe not put it on their car (although this COULD conceivably happen), but print it? Oh, yes..people will do anything for money. After all, Barbra Streisand is Jewish but has recorded at least 2 Christmas albums!

  17. If you think this bumper sticker’s bad, I respectfully suggest that you avail yourself of a look back at the election of 1800 between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, in which Jefferson was called a half-breed son of an Indian squaw and a mulatto father. Adams was characterized as a hermaphrodite, with neither the strength of a man nor the softness of a woman. Also, you might want to take a gander at 1802, when Big Al Hamilton and Aaron Burr settled some minor political differences with dueling pistols at dawn. Is it bad? Yeah, but it’s also protected speech. Politics is a rough and tumble business and not for the faint of heart or the queasy of stomach.

  18. wandangel says:

So true…and people these days are so overly sensitive…and some of these same people would not think twice about calling an overweight person all kinds of derogatory names and others would not find it offensive…until it’s applied to Ms. Obama…then it’s an outrage! I’m not supporting calling anyone racist names…far from it; however, the outrage should apply to ALL offensive terms. Why is one so much worse than another?

  19. commenter111 says:

    It’s racist….but it’s also damn clever.

  20. Not Microchipped says:

Interesting that “racism” and “Republicans” was sufficient motivation (guilt?) for wandangel to post three times here. I guess the more you post the more you feel absolved of culpability? In any case, the bumper sticker is apologetically racist on the merits. So much so that the Facebook page it first appeared on has been taken down by Facebook.

  21. VicoDANIEL says:

Why would Republicans try and deny this bumpersticker is:

    1.) racist and,
2.) designed by anti-President Obama Republicans?

This is who they are. Man up and own it. Celebrate it. This is how wingers roll. They jump in the racist pond and then puss-out when the shit hits the fan.

  22. Mets Fan says:

    Marcus Ybanez is correct.

You’d have to be a dumb, home schooled Republican to not know the difference between “renig” and renege. Sorry, but that dog don’t bite.

  23. bill says:

I think before anyone condemns, as racist, they need to watch MSNBC. Rev All has called people much worse than this. And there is no uproar! Why? For this “racist” statement cuts to the truth. Obama is an over educated self indulging failure. We cut back on everything just to fill our gas tanks and The 1st lady fly’s all over the place on vacation on our dime, they are very out of touch, but I don’t think they know reality anyway! He knows nothing about the way anything works in the real world. He appoints people that want to bring this country down to the level of most European countries.

Before we do this I think many of you should look at the past. In WW1, who did the world come to for help? It was the Americans, in WW2 again the world was at the brink until the arrogant Americans said “No You Won’t, and when the floods and famines’ hit Asia, the middle east and South American who is the one to the rescue, no one but the Americans. We offer our services, blood and money, with no requirements or preconditions.

If tomorrow we could not stand up on our own and needed help how many countries would be on the doorstep offering it? I bet you can count them on one hand!

We are the shining light in the world, yes we are arrogant and most of the things people say about us, are true! We as a country have always been that way from the days of the 1st Tea Party in Boston to today, but when in need, they all call on the Americans’ and we forgive anything that has been said or done before and give 100% of ourselves to those in need.

Obama wants to, in his own words “Fundamentally change America”! And if successful the entire world will suffer, fore if the Americans’ are not there, who will be?

  24. Harry says:

Obama wants to, in his own words “Fundamentally change America”!

    Hi Rush!

  25. Chad says:

All I’m going to say is that this morning in Frankfort Kentucky I saw a truck with a Confederate flag covering its entire back window, with the phrase “If you ain’t white, you ain’t Right” on the left side of the tailgate, and the phrase “Don’t Re-Nig in November” on the right. It was some big jacked up redneck 4×4 truck…there are some sad, sad people in this world.

  26. Mike Degaman says:

You people remind me of those other zealots, you know, the throngs of Muslim barbarians pillaging and murdering over the burning of a book. It’s a bumper sticker that might be displayed on a couple of vehicles in the entire U.S.A. Get over it!

  27. dboz555 says:

I’m not a Republican nor am I raciest, but I will answer this question for you “I’ve never understood why Republicans can’t take President Obama to task for his policies without mentioning race?” It is because when people of the press asked people on the street why they are voting for Obama a good majority replied “It is about time we had a black president”. If you ask me they are just responding to the people. I do not agree with the racial slur, but it is time to vote Obama out of office.

  28. Hiawatha bailey says:

What is wrong with you people? This is so blatant that it borders on treason!
