Police State: Cops Kill Deaf, Mentally Disabled Cyclist

Friday, November 25, 2011

Scotland Neck, SC cops killed an elderly and mentally disabled male cyclist after they demanded he stop by blasting him with a Taser stun gun. His apparent failure to obey the cops cost him his life.

Roger Anthony, 61, was on his way home in Scotland Neck, after officers responded to a 911 call about a man who had fallen off his bicycle in a car park.

The caller told dispatchers that the man appeared drunk and that it looked like he had hurt himself.

Officers said they repeatedly told Mr. Anthony to get off his bike, but when he didn’t respond so they shocked him.

The South Carolina Medical Examiner hasn’t yet determined a cause of death. Family members claim Mr. Anthony suffered from hearing problems and seizures. They’re considering whether to file a lawsuit against the town.

His brother Michael said: “What did they taze him? It’s hurting me. It’s really hurting me.”

Scotland Neck Mayor James Mills said he wouldn’t blame the family for suing: ‘There has been no information that this man was a threat to anybody.”

    This is shocking.

Cops today taze anything and anyone who move. This isn’t police work, it’s an attack on the citizenry they’re sworn to protect and serve.

This man didn’t rob a home or a business, rape a woman or dealt drugs. The 911 call said he “fell and possibly hurt himself.” So the pigs decide to hurt him some more?

  2. Eric Equality Kuntz says:

The time has arrived for people to begin tazing the cops. Warn them once and if they continue to approach, fire the Taser gun at them.

  3. I’ve heard of the crime of DWB, or Driving While Black, but this is the first time I’ve heard of the crime of Cycling While Black.

Poor guy. He didn’t have a chance against the Stassi.

  4. Rachel says:

I hope this man’s family sues the shit out of the local police department. This is outrageous and not acceptable. The message to the disabled community is, you had better have tattooed on your face and arms, “I’m deaf, don’t shoot,” or don’t even think of calling the cops for help.

  5. Brigadoon says:

The Scotland Neck, SC pigs violated the 1991 Americans with Disabilities Act. Roger Anthony was deaf and mentally challenged. I hope the ACLU helps the family bankrupt the police department for their treatment of this man.

The “new” south is just like the “old” south.

  7. Nicole in Chesepeake Bay says:

This story just makes me furious. Cops are supposed to help people — not kill them. Five will get you ten that if Mr. Anthony had been Caucasian the white trash cops would never had tazed him like this.

How ironic that a good Samaritan called the Stassi because the man was seen falling off the bike and they were worried he had hurt himself? Bottomline. The Stassi are trouble. Don’t involve them in our affairs. They’re presence always spells trouble and heartache. They’re good for nothing.
