The love affair between MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and President Obama is over.
In this video, Matthews tells anchor Alex Witt that Obama has failed to tell the American people why they should vote for him. “I hear stories,” said Matthews.
Watch It:
This isn’t the first time I’ve heard such a story. During 2009’s healthcare fracas, Democrats in both the House and Senate said they sought out Obama for leadership because they wanted to help him get the bill passed but, Obama refused to meet with them. Instead, he dotted on the GOP sisters, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. Obama is a strange guy.
I always get the impression that Obama doesn’t like being president and doesn’t like the American people. He holds us at arms length, preferring to the company of his wife and kids but, not the country he governs. Like Feminazi said, Obama is a strange guy. He reminds me of so many middle managers I’ve known over the years.
Tweety is correct.
Obama even said as much when he said if National Healthcare is all he accomplishes and it costs him reelection then, he’s OK with it. I think Obama’s words might be prophetic.
In Washington, to get things done you must travel a two-way street. Cross traffic between Capitol Hill and the White House ebbs and flows depending on who is president, who the House Speaker is, and the Senate Majority leader. I’ve heard what Tweety is saying for the past three years. Obama simply has no interest in forging relationships with members of the Congress. He doesn’t returns calls and he never makes himself available. Obama spends his down time playing golf and hoops. This is so reminiscent of Jimmy Carter. No wonder Obama can’t get his agenda enacted.
Tweety is an idealist. He comes from the school of thought that says the president should be Jack Kennedy or Franklin Roosevelt.
Obama is neither Jack Kennedy or Franklin Roosevelt. He’s Bush-lite with a streak of Reagan.
Look at his terrorism record. Obama authorized a wave of drones to Anwar Awlaki. Neither Osama bin Laden or Kaddafi were captured and allowed to stand trail. The finest judicial system in the world, the model for developing nations, robbed of meriting out justice.
This president prefers to operate from the shadows. From behind the curtain. His psychology is peculiar — not pragmatic, as his fans like to say.
Ok I have a list of discontent w Obama, but the statement “There is no Peace Corps” is not correct. In fact, my soon to be college grad is considering joining the Peace Corps…

Peace Corps Named One of the ‘Best Places to Work in the Federal Government’
Granted it is a labor of love- they want grads w degrees, and a 27 month commitment.
Once that time is done:
Pays $ $7,425 (pre-tax after you complete your 27 months of service) That works out to be $275 dollars per month PRE TAX!- NOT A GET RICH SCHEME!
Free Travel: expenses for travel to and from your country of service are
paid for
Living Allowance: a monthly stipend to cover living and housing expenses
Vacation: earn two vacation days per month of service
Medical and Dental: receive complete medical and dental care while serving
The Peace Corps is celebrating it’s 50th year anniversary this year.
Just sayin’
i wouldn’t characterize that as ‘turning on’ obama. he sees what’s wrong with the strategy, and he’s giving obama advice on what to do. i happen to agree with him. obama has only just begun to talk to the american people. he needs to keep a dialogue open with us, and he needs to make some connections in congress so people there will understand where he wants to go and so that he can explain to them why it would be a good thing for them to back his agenda. congress only looks out for themselves. they need a good reason to hold onto his coattails.
I have to say Tweety is correct.
Obama is running for reelection but I can’t honestly tell you why he’s running for reelection? Maybe he doesn’t want to return to private life quite yet. Having a 747 to take you across state or across the world is pretty swell. But, what does he intend to do to help me if I reelect him? Will he work to repeal DOMA? Restart the space program? Fix the housing mess? He hasn’t said unless I missed it.
I think the There’s no Peace Corps comment is that Pres O hasn’t done anything to engage people, to get people to do work that helps others. He may have gotten young people back on their parents’ health care, but a lot of those kids are staying at their parents’ homes because there are NO JOBS! There’s plenty of work to be done, but no plan to get it done. That I don’t care if I’m a one-term President makes me think WTF dude? One big accomplishment in 4 years? That’s all ya got?
Would never think I’d hear this.
This fucker doesn’t deserve to be on TB.
In addition the person does not speak for me as a RPCV and is an embarrassment to all those who served.
