Memo to Dems: Dump Obama Before it’s Too Late

Saturday, September 3, 2011

Just returning home from the Paris Libya Contact Group to a long, well earned holiday weekend, Hillary Clinton continues to dominate the blogosphere.

I came across this editorial and wanted to pass it along to you. While not mentioning a Hillary Clinton challenge to Obama specifically, the take away is clear.

From The Daily Caller:

Memo to Dems: Dump Obama Before it’s Too Late

This summer has cemented it: Barack Obama is a lame duck. His administration is a failure. Democrats know it. And they only have months to act.

Their president has lost the support of Wall Street donors. He has driven high-powered Democrats to go public with humiliating criticism. One in four Democrats have told CNN they want a different nominee.

What’s the problem? In a hugely influential New York Times editorial, psychologist Drew Westen lamented that Obama’s problem is himself. “Like most Americans,” he wrote, “at this point, I have no idea what Barack Obama — and by extension the party he leads — believes on virtually any issue.”

There is still time for Democrats to fix this — but only if they force their leader not to seek a second term. As a president, Barack Obama is doomed. He is doomed now, doomed on Election Day and doomed even if he wins, until the day he leaves the White House.

Where to begin? For starters, Obama has no true constituency. Stephen Moore, writing in The Wall Street Journal, claimed last week that “the increasingly frustrated left” concedes the president has “a virtual lock on the crucial black vote.” But top black leaders feel ignored at best and betrayed at worst — and they’ve said so at their own town hall series.

But if Democrats don’t heed the lesson of Reagan vs. Ford, or remember Ted Kennedy’s rallying pledges from the 1980 convention, the fact will swallow them. Hillary now is just like Teddy then. Only, instead of Chappaquiddick, she’s got a steel-plated record of discipline and control — that her own president doesn’t have, and never will.

Interesting piece. I don’t think it matters a whole lot if Obama wins in 2012 or not.

The perception has taken hold that he’s ineffective and not capable of solving the myriad problems facing this nation. I have said for almost three years that his national healthcare boondoggle needed to wait until unemployment fell to below 7%. But he saw things differently and now he’s paying the grave political price.

  2. feminazi says:

Do you really think Obama could face a primary challenger? I keep hearing talking heads say on TV that liberals won’t vote for Perry or Romney so who else can they support but Obama? I suppose the other alternative is just to stay home? At least you would be making a statement.

  3. stradella says:

Feminazi – African-Americans have developed Alzheimer disease about the the Clintons. They forget all the Clintons have done for them going back to Arkansas.

It angers me how my people, especially young blacks forget the Clinton legacy.

When I always ask young blacks in my own family to name three things Mr. Obama has done for them I get a blank stare.

  4. Bel Ami says:

When Barry uses words like, “brinkmanship” and “gamesmanship” and “infrastructure,” my eyes glaze over and I stop listening. I don’t know what he’s talking about so I conclude he’s talking about absolutely nothing.

    It’s just hot air.

  5. Chad Lebanon says:

Michael Tomasky at The Daily Beast today wrote:

After a week of presidential humiliations and capitulations, Obama will soon pass the point where he can be taken seriously as a leader.

I think the EPA flip flop was the point of no return.

  6. retahyajyajav says:

Stradella is correct. Black unemployment in America is at its highest level in 27 years. Obama hasn’t done anything to make this community whole again. This statistic was reported on the all-black CNN so no one can claim it’s anti-Obama hype.

  7. Eric Equality Kuntz says:

Obama won’t win reelection but he will smile, and weave, and aw-shucks his way as he drags down the entire Democratic party. He doesn’t care about the Dems — he cares about himself.

It’s a stunning display of ego aggrandizement .

  8. JollyRoger says:

I’ll bet you, feminazi, that I can find someone other than Guv Goodhair, Willard, or Bushack HW Obama to vote for. I look forward to doing exactly that in 2012.

  9. Big Hank says:

…remember Ted Kennedy’s rallying pledges from the 1980 convention, the fact will swallow them. Hillary now is just like Teddy then. Only, instead of Chappaquiddick, she’s got a steel-plated record of discipline and control — that her own president doesn’t have, and never will.”

    Man, this is scary true.

  10. Adirondacky says:

And to think? It only took us 2 1/2 years to figure out we backed a loser?

  11. Pinetree says:

Obama is a political vampire. He sucks fragments of ideas off everyone around him and never presents a coherent agenda of his own. The Repubs picked up on that trait during the great debt debacle. He has become a the new Hoover and Gorbachev chimera. His preemptive caving discredits the very side (ours) he is supposed to be advancing. His core advisory staff consists of burned out an discredited Clinton era retreads which really hurts considering his 2008 snipe at Hillary about how to you expect change using the same old people. Hillary would have built a much better staff by not having to using the 1990s crowd exclusively because Clintons know who to find new blood. Obama correctly fired General McKiernan, but General McKiernan correctly identified Obama as overwhelmed by the job. The Democrats have an inexperienced and very poor leader in charge. At least Carter had governing skills even if his leadership and ability to inspire were not up to the challenges of this time. For the sake of the country and the party, Obama must go. Either the Democrats do it, or the democratic process will.

  12. john deleo says:

obama is a fraud. gore should jumb in save dem. party. obama is weak. he caves daily and is in over his head. let’s face it he is a major disapointment to real progressives. it’s time we faced up to it. if the black voters dont like too bad. he aint doing them any favors either. wake up, it’s time to challange obama. the party needs someone to face up to those tea bag maniacs. obaman wont,, he’s too scared. really patheic. 70 yrs of progressive movement now in real danger of being washed away by soon to be prez.perry and vice prez. rubio. how does that sound? anybody agree with out therwe?

  13. While I can appreciate the points in Memo to Dems: Dump Obama Before it’s Too Late | From the Left, I am tired and sick of hearing rubbish about the “economic recovery”. The US government borrowed and spent $6.1T in the last four years to obtain a cumulative $700 billion rise in the nation’s Gross domestic product. This means we’ve borrowed and spent $8.70 for every $1 of nominal “economic growth” in Gross domestic product. In constant $, GDP is flat, we have no “economic growth” at all for our $6.1 trillion. In constant dollars, the gross domestic product in 2011 might get back to the 2007 level, if the economy continues “growing” at the same rate reached in the first 90 days of 2011. If not, then the GDP will in reality be lower than pre-recession levels. There is no economic recovery, the facts prove this.
