McDonald’s Received More than One Million Applications

Saturday, April 30, 2011

McDonald’s, the second largest restaurant chain in the world, hired 62,000 people in the USA after receiving more than one million applications, the Oak Brook, IL-based company said Friday. Previously, it said it planned to hire 50,000.

As President Obama enters his third year in office, and announced plans to run for reelection in 2012, the fact that more than one million Americans applied for jobs flipping burgers is a stunning example of his failure to do the one thing Americans want most: create jobs.

Meanwhile, the number of applications for unemployment benefits in the U.S. rose last week. A sign that progress in the labor market may be slipping away, as new jobless claims increased by 25,000 to 429,000 in the week ended April 23, the most in three months, according to data provided from the Labor Department.

So it remains a mystery to me just what President Obama can possibly point to as a reason to vote for him again. From my perspective all Obama has accomplished is $5 a gallon gas and a new war in Libya.

The joke in Houston is, if you want to have a stimulating, intelligent conversation, visit Home Depot or Lowe’s because this is where you find the men and women working who have advanced university degrees in physics, science, astrophysics, and engineering.

I have to agree with you. After almost three years in office, it is now abundantly clear that President Obama is clueless about jobs creation. The country doesn’t care about the three wars sucking resources out of the US Treasury. The middle class is shrinking before our eyes, and what is this president do?

    He dances for Donald Trump.

  2. Harry says:

Obama is a failure. An epic failure. But, his small legions of supporters still get dewy eyed when he speaks. I think they’re brainwashed. What is in that tea?

  3. Jolly Roger says:

It is a fact that under the present Administration, more private sector jobs have already been created than under 8 years of the monkey.

But we could have done a lot more.

  4. The fact is, the “monkey” hasn’t been president for three years. This is Obama’s economy now.

Oh snap. Those pesky facts again.😉

  5. Debbie Banuelos says:

Barry’s record on jobs isn’t entirely dismal.

He’s employing just gobs of lawyers employed by states challenging Obamacare. So we should give him props for this.

  6. Jim says:

    Fail, fail, fail. How depressing.

  7. Peace Nick says:

Obama’s reelection strategy can’t be based on being the “not-Bush.”

This makes no sense and won’t fly. Not when the American public is addled by $4.25 a gallon gas and the only employer hiring is a fast food restaurant. If he can’t point to his own list of achievements, the voters will feel like chumps for taking a chance on him.

Which is already beginning to happen.

  8. Peace Nick,

Obama’s record is $4.25 a gallon gas and fast food restaurant jobs.

If Libya comes down to a stalemate — as it appears to be the case, Obama’s foreign policy record is even worse.

  9. TOM339 says:

Scott Dancer — There’s quite a lot of bad blood in Houston over Obama’s decision to deny the city one of the retired Shuttles.

These are the men and women who worked on the project for over 30 years. They don’t understand why Los Angeles gets one but not Houston?

    It’s a very strange decision.

Chris, I posted a comment before and you never approved it. Why? Interesting, I thought you encouraged positive open communication.

  11. TheTick900,

I don’t approve or disapprove each posting to my BLOG. The sheer volume of comments would require a part-time staffer.

If your comment contained a HYPERLINK, then the WordPress Spam system called Akismet holds such comments for review. This is explained the Comment Policy section at the top of my BLOG. Sometimes Aksimet tags comments as Spam when they are not. It’s not a perfect system but I have no control over it.

I hope this response satisfies your concerns.

    Chris,
I run my own blog and I happen to know Askimet very well, thank you. However, it there is a link on that application called “not spam”. I just assume you go to Askitmet and just delete all the “spam” without at least skimming through the contents. Whatever the case, I stated that the Obama administration and his buddies in congress proposed a jobs bill and the republicans in congress blocked in. I think the responsibility lies in the horrible “free market system” that churns out jobs instead of a presidential administration.
