Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), who has somehow managed to convince a large number of lost lambs that he’s a Libertarian in good-standing, told MSNBC’s Cenk Uygur that if elected president, he plans to kill Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid.
Watch it:
Don’t be fooled, folks. Paul has convinced people he’s a Libertarian but his positions on Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid is identical to the late Ronald Reagan.
X2. (Agreed, big time.)
I’m not familiar with Ron Paul but now that mention it, his views on Medicare and on Social Security do remind me of Reagan. I remember Reagan spinning these bizarre homilies about how in his day, families took care of the elderly, rendering federal programs like Social Security unnecessary. These are old men who long for a world that no longer exists.
Ron paul just took himself out of the race……………..@
Ron Paul’s world view is reminiscent of Newt Gingrich.
Just as Gingrich advocated the return of 1930’s-style orphanages, Paul is suggesting a return of the pre-Social Security widows homes. Quaint both, but impractical in a country where rising cases of Alzheimer’s burden the medical system and the costs of food and medicine have skyrocketed since Obama became president.
My aging German Shepard is smarter than Ron Paul.
He’s become the perennial presidential candidate for college students and adults who are disenchanted with the Democrats and the Republicans. But make no mistake about it, Ron Paul is not Libertarian — a far, right conservative.
Ron Paul is an old and angry guy. He comes from Texas and I think the majority of the American public have had all they can take of Texas Republicans. Plus, a lot of his views just seem kooky. He will never be president. It ain’t going to happen.
Paul, unfortunately, really is a classical Libertarian. Libertarianism sounds attractive on its surface, but it has two basic problems; it cannot overcome the greed in human nature (more or less exactly what is wrong with Communism,) and in the interconnected world that we live in, if you don’t show up for work, it WILL affect ME, so your health and well-being are important to my own for reasons entirely outside of the humanitarian aspects.
I survive on these “entitlements” I believe I entered into a contract with the US Government when deductions were taken. Simple as that…
But Ron Paul is right that most people will use much more of the Social Security and Medicare benefits than they pay in. So the plans are going broke and we are turning into Greece. And you can’t get elected if you even hint of changing these plans so they will survive. People want something for nothing. It can’t go on like this forever. The US Government made a bad deal with seniors to get elected and it hurts everyone under 65. Sorry, no easy answers.
Rich Simpson,
You mean like members of Congress who serve a single term in the House of Representatives or a single term as Senator and they and their spouse get Federal benefits and government subsidized health insurance until the day they die?
Social Security isn’t “something for nothing.” It’s funded through FICA payroll taxes. American workers pay into the system. Same with Medicare. Look at your payroll check if you don’t believe me.
Nice try though. 😉
Do any of you,,Even know who or what Ron Paul is, or stands for. Have ANY of you even researched, or looked at anything other than what the liars of Main Stream Media tell you. Do NONE of you have the mind to look for yourself, or are the majority of you just content, to take someone elses views and beliefs and opinions as your own.
How many here actually Know what the Constitution says, and times that are past?…you mean the times when we WERE NOT trillions in debt, in 5 wars and people COULD afford to do the things he says, or are you content being broke, living off of “entitlements” that are unsustainable and driving our country to complete bankruptcy.
Please do some research, I mean even people here who say, “I don’t know anything about Ron Paul, but I think your right”…how blind, and how ignorant is that outlook?..please..PLEASE..look into what you are saying and doing, and get some education about these things before making judgements. How can one make a decision like this, without knowing what they are doing??..THAT..IS SCARIER THAN ANYTHING…
JerryD,
You ask a lot of questions but say very little of import.
If you’re an x-pert on Ron Paul, please share your knowledge and post with everything you want us to know. I’m not an x-pert on Mr. Paul but I took him at his word when he said he’d kill Medicare and Social Security. If he’s speaking in some sort of Libertarian code, please decipher it for us.
Ron Paul will not touch medicare for those that are on it or getting near to being on it. He will give young people the opportunity to opt out. YES, he will give US A choice to save out own money.
WAKE UP!!! They are twisting the words of the most honest man in politricks.
RON PAUL will let us have a choice to save our own money for these things. Tax breaks for the money we save, will will not have those deductions come out of our checks…
WAKE UP….
Please let me know if there are any others questions about this. We need to make sure we educate the policy of RON PAUL. Don’t take the media headlines as truth. This is a very good link where Ron Paul shares is views… Please watch this, he covers a lot in this one from Florida.
