Obama to Announce Aggressive Plan to Slash Medicare, Social Security

Monday, April 11, 2011

President Obama plans to deliver “a major speech” on Wednesday laying out an aggressive plan (READ: Tea Party-approved) for deficit reduction which will include slashing Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid but not military spending.

Meanwhile, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports Daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows only 19% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way Mr. Obama is performing as president. His lowest numbers yet.

But perhaps most surprising, just 37% of liberals Strongly Approve of the president’s performance. That’s down from 63% a year ago, 57% at the beginning of 2011, and 52% a week ago. Suggesting a shrinking of his once huge political base.

Liberals have expressed disappointment with President Obama over the extension of the Bush tax cuts, the military action in Libya, and most recently, the budget deal to avert a partial shutdown of the Federal government.

I just don’t feel any connection to Obama now. He’s moved so far to the center that he’s taken up residence amongst the conservative right. Clearly, this is a man who views me and all other retirees as a burden to the country versus someone he should look out for. Well, Mr. Obama, I will be returning the love in 2012 by not voting for you.

  2. Robyn says:

I crossing my fingers Hillary runs for President soon. I don’t think I could handle another Obama term.

  3. joost says:

I saw a poll reflecting African Americans souring on Obama. I honestly can’t recall the poll name but I was taken aback because African Americans had been Obama’s bread-and-butter base of support. I think is beginning to take place is, Obama is triangulating whom he can throw under the bus as he prepares to run for reelection in 2012. Like feminazi wisely observed, retirees have no political value to him now and I expect the gay community will likewise, get nothing from him going forward. Obama is utterly contemptible. His new demographic of value is the Tea Party who he’s naive enough to think will embrace him.

  4. Yes, I could vote for Hillary in the primary just to vote against Obama.

I always say, in politics, strength and leadership is rewarded. Obama is neither strong nor a leader. In fact, he carries out his duties as president as if he’s still a junior senator from Illinois.

Can 2012 get here any sooner?

  5. Brigadoon says:

Obama will kill Medicare and Medicaid unless we stop him. Just as his political hero, Saint Reagan tried to kill Medicare and Medicaid. The left needs to open their eyes, clean out their ears, and take off the rose colored glasses because Obama is not, by any definition of the word, a liberal, or a progressive or even a Democrat.

  6. Pechanga says:

    The new JFK! Not!
    The next MLK, Jr.! Not!
The embodiment of Malcolm X! Not!
    Pragmatic! Not!
    Practical! Not!
    Brilliant! Not!

Have I said how much I detest Obama? Yes!

  7. CriticalEyes says:

O-Busha………… the best friend Rethuglicans ever had! It’s time to lynch this Negro!

  8. Abbey Peripatetic says:

In my humble opinion, Obama’s planned announcement Wednesday has more to do with ego than anything else.

Largely absent from the deficit reduction fray raging on Capitol Hill, and with Sens. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) leading the Gang of Six’s effort, with the input of 500 business leaders and others at the Rotary Club of Atlanta about how to shrink the debt, their plan alleges $4 trillion in savings over 10 years, Obama felt left out and wanted to play with the adults.

Champion of the middle class my ass.

  9. feminazi says:

I’m not one to complain but I paid into the system for 40 years before I retired. For two years in a row, I haven’t received a Social Security COLA, just as gas, food and Medicare Part B prices go up, up, and up. I’m hurting. My friends are hurting. But Obama thinks nothing of starting a third war, this one in Libya, to the tune of $40 million a week? You can see why I’ve concluded he doesn’t care about me and why I refuse to vote to reelect him in 2012. Thanks for letting me vent.

  10. Harry says:

Run, Hillary Run! Obama, just go away.

  11. Estacada says:

Feminazi – Never apologize for speaking your mind. I think your views are becoming the new norm vis a vis to President Obama and his failed leadership.

I think the 2012 race promises to be very interesting on the merits. Watching Obama try to market his first term as something worthy of another term in office will be funny and more than a little pathetic.

  12. DMason says:

Does Obama truly think if he cuts popular programs like Medicare and Social Security to curry favor with the Tea Party that come November 2012, they will rush out to the polls to reelect him? I mean, serious? Either Obama is naive or he’s getting some bad feedback from his chief of staff. Trust me — the Tea Party will never embrace him.

  13. Walk on Socks says:

Wait until gas prices hit $5 a gallon. Obama’s meddling in Libya guarantees this to be the case by Memorial Day.

You think Obama is in trouble now? The American people will be demanding drilling in ANWR and off both coastlines and Obama’s impeachment. There’s only so much people can take and this administration is playing with fire.

At the rate things are going, I can see myself voting GOP if it means lower energy costs and more jobs. Things can’t continue on the way they are.

  14. Jolly Roger says:

I wish I’d been wrong about Barry. I really do.

But I don’t take anything Assmussen says at face value. They produce the numbers the Jonestowners want to hear.

  15. Rachel says:

Walk on Socks – $5 a gallon gas will have a crippling effect on the economy. Where I work, people have started asking if they can telecommute or work 4/10 hour days and stay home Fridays. The sad reality is, Obama doesn’t care about “the little people” who donated $20 dollars to his 2008 campaign. He attacked Libya and bought the support of Big Oil in the process but he lost the support of average Americans who helped him get elected in the first place. People like me.

  16. Matteo says:

: Romney, Huckabee lead Obama in Florida

Florida, with as many electoral votes as New York, looks like an early lost cause for Obama in 2012.

Republicans Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney lead President Obama in Florida, according to a poll out today on the 2012 presidential race.

We know it’s early to tout presidential polls, but this one is worth noting because Florida is an important swing state in the race for the White House. Obama beat Republican John McCain in Florida in 2008.

Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, leads Obama 48%-43% in the Florida poll. Huckabee, who lives in Florida but is best known for his tenure as Arkansas’ governor, leads Obama 49%-44%.

  17. Chad Lebanon says:

I know Obama is a timid, little fellow but, $5 a gallon regular gas by Memorial Day?

If ever there was a time for Obama to find his manhood and release part of the nation’s strategic, petroleum reserves, it is now. If he’s too frightened to do it, ask Michele to make the call.

  18. Joe in Colorado says:

Is this the strategy of Obama’s fan boys? When the poll isn’t friendly just discount it and give a dumb name like Jolly Roger did? It’s a partisan variant on attack the messenger. What happens when all the polls show the same truth about Obama? Will they have be discounted in an effort to make Obama look good?

  19. CriticalEyes says:

Ok, Obusha, you’ve made your mark…. the very first Ni&&er President, in our history. Unfortunately, you’ll also go down in history as a ‘Black shit Stain’…….

  20. Sayingwhatneedsaying says:

Obama, you should first Slash your balls off! They’re useless anyway……..
