Gloria Vanderbilt’s Son Hit in the Head by Pro-Mubarak Protesters

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Gloria Vanderbilt’s son, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, was hit in the head at least 10 times by pro-Mubarak protesters in Cairo.

The always stylish, intrepid reporter, Cooper escaped to the roof of a nearby building, where he said on air that he and his crew were trying to get to a neutral zone between protesters and pro-Mubarak supporters when they “were set upon by pro-Mubarak supporters punching us in the head. The crowd kept growing, kept throwing punches, kicks…suddenly a young man would look at you and punch you in the face.”

Cooper told CNN’s live blog that the attackers “pushed and shoved the CNN crew and punched them in the head but no one was seriously hurt.

  1. Brigadoon says:

Was Anderson in Cairo to cover the end of the Mubarak regime or to find a hot Egyptian man who would give him what he needs? Sorry, but I don’t take Anderson Cooper seriously as a journalist and I won’t until he comes out and tells the world what we already know about his sexual orientation.

  2. Rachel says:

    Was he wearing Prada?

  3. Harry says:

Why is Sarah Palin not in Egypt? Talk about a photo-op!

  4. Walk on Socks says:

CNN and CNN International have a team of journalists already in Cairo and Alexandria covering the revolt and the end of the Mubarak regime.

As I see it, there was absolutely no reason to dispatch Gloria Vanderbilt’s closeted gay son to the heart of the danger zone unless the reach of vanity journalism is so great in Anderson that he couldn’t be stopped by a pack of raging camels.

  5. Estacada says:

The CNN International team are Arab linguists and live in the Middle East.

Anderson Cooper lives in a loft in Tribeca and travels with a team of hair and make-up people. I love your description: “vanity journalism.”

This is one for the record books.

  6. Pechanga says:

Now NBC’s Brain “Long Island Lock-Jaw” Williams is in Cairo broadcasting from the very same balcony where Anderson Cooper and Katie Couric are stationed to report the events taking place in Egypt.

    What a goof.

  7. stradella says:

Child, that’s a silly queen who will do anything for ratings.

CNN and all the other networks hiding on the same balcony reporting the events below means we’re seeing the same story from everyone. Hardly what I call journalism. It sounds more like a media party.

  8. Chad Lebanon says:

…”that’s a silly queen who will do anything for ratings.”

If he came out of the closet his ratings would double.

  9. Cathy F. says:

What’s the difference if he is gay or not, he has a job to do and he’s doing it! Get over the “gay” issue unless your afraid of your own sexually!! It is what it is, there’s more important things to think about in this world.

  10. andy grovo says:

It does matter that he’s GAY! 99% or most all people are NOT GAY. I want to know who’s doing my news and how they’re slanting it. I don’t care what Cooper does in the privacy of his home, but if he want’s a public life, it IS important to know. Shame on him for hiding behind the TV camera. As for his reporting, it’s ALWAYS been strictly minor league. This guy can’t talk, has no voice, stutters all the time, and looks uncomfortable on camera.

How the hell did he ever get the job? Answer: He’s Vanderbilt’s son and then, CNN loved the GAY angle as well, two reason why I never watch Cooper or CNN!
