Jewish Groups Outraged by Sarah Palin’s Anti-Semitic Rhetoric

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Keep fucking that chicken, Sarah. Is there a group left this nitwit hasn’t managed to offend?

Think Progress has the details:

On a day when President Obama and the First Lady traveled to Tucson, the site of the Saturday massacre, failed Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is trying to seize the spotlight to mourn her tarnished reputation.

Mama Grifter views herself among the real victims of the tragic shooting this weekend that killed six and wounded 14.

This morning, Palin launched an aggressive Facebook and web-video campaign to counter what she deemed a “blood libel” against her by the media to connect her infamous cross-hairs map and other right-wing incendiary rhetoric to violence.

Of all the terms Palin could have used, from “defamation” to even “implicating me in murder,” why did Palin choose “blood libel”? As the conservative National Review’s Jonah Goldberg, who says he “agree[s] entirely with…Palin’s, larger point,” notes, “Historically, the term is almost invariably used to describe anti-Semitic myths about how Jews use blood, usually from children in their ritual.” Indeed, Jews consider the term extremely offensive, and the Anti-Defamation League and other prominent Jewish organizations have spoken out against its use dozens of occasions in the past.

Jewish groups are taking offense to Mama Grifter’s choice of the term. Noting that accusations of blood libel have been “directly responsible for the murder” of so many Jews across centuries,” the National Jewish Democratic Council condemned Palin’s use of the term:

Instead of dialing down the rhetoric at this difficult moment, Sarah Palin chose to accuse others trying to sort out the meaning of this tragedy of somehow engaging in a “blood libel” against her and others. This is of course a particularly heinous term for American Jews, given that the repeated fiction of blood libels are directly responsible for the murder of so many Jews across centuries — and given that blood libels are so directly intertwined with deeply ingrained anti-Semitism around the globe.

All we had asked following this weekend’s tragedy was for prayers for the dead and wounded, and for all of us to take a step back and look inward to see how we can improve the tenor of our coarsening public debate. Sarah Palin’s invocation of a “blood libel” charge against her perceived enemies is hardly a step in the right direction.

The president of the pro-Israel, pro-peace Jewish lobby J Street, Jeremy Ben-Ami, said he was “saddened by Governor Palin’s use of the term ‘blood libel,’” adding that he hopes “she will choose to retract her comment and apologize.“

I wouldn’t hold your breath, Mr. Ben-Ami. You see, Mama Grifter walks on water and is beyond reproach. To put it in the crudest of term, Palin’s shit doesn’t stink. She’s a legend in her own mind. A gift from God and a politician for the ages.

  1. TOM339 says:

At the rate Palin is declining, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if she ended up a waitress at Hooters.

    I’m totally serious.

  2. R.J. says:

At least we don’t have to worry about her becoming president in two years. It will never happen now that’s she pissed off the Jews and everyone else.

  3. Carpe Diem says:

Part of the legend Palin Inc. has tried to create is that of a pro-Israel, borderline Zionist conservative who regularly admonishes President Obama for not being sufficiently friendly to Israel.

Then today, is a shameless, cynical attempt to minimize her irresponsible use of violent imagery to target and attack Democrats, she rips a term that every Jew over that age of 40 finds offensive.

Sarah Palin isn’t smart enough to play it both ways. She lacks the skills to reinvent language and refine its plastic properties.

  4. doninmass says:

Sarah Palin dosen’t know which end is up. The more she says, the more damage she creates.

  5. Rachel says:

Everything about this dumb broad is sordid. She’s a dangerous clown and I hope with all my heart that between the use of gun crosshairs and now the totally inappropriate and anti-Semitic use of “blood libel,” that her days in the national spotlight have passed.

  6. Big Hank says:

AIPAC isn’t laughing tonight. Nor is the Knesset.

  7. Matteo says:

    blood libel: Wikipedia

Blood libel (also blood accusation[1][2]) refers to a false accusation or claim[3][4][5] that religious minorities, in European contexts almost always Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays.[1][2][6] Historically, these claims have – alongside those of well poisoning and host desecration – been a major theme in European persecution of Jews.[4]

    Palin is a Jew-hater.

  8. libhomo says:

The other horrifying thing about the video is that it contains a threat of violence if people keep criticizing her.

  9. Palin is a Cunt says:

Sarah Palin doesn’t know her ass from a hole in the ground. In fact, a hole in the ground is more attractive than Sarah Palin.

  10. Randy Arroyo says:

I’m unfamiliar with this term or phrase. If the Jewish community says it is offensive then that’s good enough for me. I’ve since Googled “blood libel” and I can see how people are outraged. All Palin needed to say is some variation of, “I’m very sorry if anything I did or said contributed to this terrible tragedy and I pledge to be more sensitive in the future.” But, this is a woman with an ego larger than Alaska and a brain smaller than Todd’s penis. I believe her time in the sun is over and she will be seen less and less as the MSM and the GOP abandons her.

  11. fran says:

In Palin’s mind SHE is the victim here. It is irresponsible to call her irresponsible. She is imploding.
She can’t wash this blood off her hands.

We’ve heard Palin speak before– those are not her words
“if the republic is to endure.” She appealed for a common response to the tragedy, saying, “We need strength to not let the random acts of a criminal turn us against ourselves, or weaken our solid foundation, or provide a pretext to stifle debate.”

Add in the blood libel remark & you have to wonder if those who wrote the speech set her up on purpose?

Palin’s karma is boomeranging back at her.
Please. The more she declares she is not to blame, the more we are convinced she is.

  12. Stephan Iversonn says:

Palin is slowly destroying herself. Call it self-annihilation.

Any worries or concerns we had that she might seek the Republican party nomination and actually go onto win election to the presidency, ended on Sat. January 8, 2011. She committed political suicide that day.

    For this, I am happy.

  13. Jolly Roger says:

Somebody doctored that photo. Here is the original one.

  14. feminazi says:

My initial thinking was to not post a response. As a teenager and a young adult, I heard all the anti-Semitism I can handle. Terms like “kike” and “blood libel” live in my distant memory. But Sarah Palin rubbed these terms in my face and I am furious. She is speaking to her zealot followers who see themselves as the new people of Israel persecuted by the secular world. She is telling them they can expect a pogrom. Palin knows exactly what she’s doing and she does not get a “pass” from me. “Blood libel” is a vile term that was chosen purposefully. Palin is extremely dangerous and even in the hours and days following Tucson, has to make the story about her. Sorry sweetie but, we’re onto you. I fully expect her next communique will mention people of Christian faith being sent to concentration camps.

  15. Brigadoon says:

Even the right-leaning Politico this morning said Palin put her foot in her mouth again. They went onto to say many in the GOP fear that it would be disastrous for her to win the Republican nomination. They called her Sarah one-note. Like so many have observed, she will never be a serious contender because the GOP establishment dislikes her immensely. She’s a moron.

  16. Jolly Roger says:

I don’t think the Palins have a talent beyond the confidence scheme. I don’t think the Worst Dude is going to be able to fix this one, although he’ll surely have a lot of help from the MSM.

  17. Mets Fan says:

    President Obama’s speech: EPIC
    Sarah Palin’s speech: FAIL

    Case closed.

  18. rockync says:

Because in the end, who cares if a bunch of people, including a little kid, are dead and others are suffering while they struggle to heal from their wounds — it’s all about Palin and how she’s suffered, isn’t it?

  19. It would appear the Palinite conservatives haven’t learned a damned thing from the Tucson massacre this passed Saturday.

On the drove home, I turned it to AM Talk Radio and heard the same, old dumbass hate rhetoric.

Some idiot said Obama’s calls for civility is, “liberals just forcing political correctness on the USA.”

There’s no hope for these dolts. No hope.

  20. okjimm says:

    //Palin is a Jew-hater.//
I think it more a matter of lack of intellectual acumen. I am sure she did not write her little speech, and whoever did was rather obtuse. To even use the word, “blood” in any context is in extremely poor taste. But then I guess she feels the need to demonstrate her leadership capabilities.

  21. Jolly Roger says:

Nah, okjmm, given the snakehandler sect she adheres to, I am quite certain she’s an anti-Semite.

  22. distributorcap says:

i think Palin is actually too stupid to be an anti-semite. she just read whatever the teleprompter said (gotta love the reflection in her glasses). i think Palin is too stupid to be anything other than a prison matron cleaning shit out of toilets.

has there has ever been a more divisive, idiotic and evil person in the spotlight. nothing this woman says or does makes any sense or helps the country move along.

the only reason the media even keeps her in their sight is because she is “hot’ if she looked like a fumpy housewife, she would be nowhere – typical shallow media

  23. Daniel says:

It is amazing how so many ignorant people can rant based upon their misunderstanding of a phrase.

A blood libel is a false allegation accusing someone of murder, human sacrifice, or blood rituals.

You do not have to be Jewish to have a blood libel against you.

  24. david says:

I believe the truth, tho not an excuse, is that someone wrote the speech for Palin and she simply read it, and has no idea what she said, what it meant, or even what the term Blood libel means in any context. She says what she says and walks away, refused to take questions and will not comment. And that is simply because she KNOWS she cannot properly answer the questions live or in person. She is a serious danger if not a threat to the health and policital well being of this country and should run and hide, stay out of politics and stay in Alaska where she belongs, being a hockey mom!!!

  25. It is amazing how so many ignorant people can rant based upon their misunderstanding of a phrase.

So, you’re saying the various Jewish groups who found the use of “blood libel” to be profoundly offensive and anti-Semitic are ignorant?

So, you’re saying the numerous Israeli newspapers who have penned op-eds admonishing Sarah Palin for using this vile phrase are ignorant?

So, you’re saying the many university scholars of Judaism who have come forward to say the use of this phrase is anti-Semitic are ignorant?

You sir, are just an ignorant Palinite.

  26. Ross Yerkes says:

I am not into politics, but I am amazed at the vicious reaction of the Jewish Left, with its obsene language, to Sarah Palin in general, and to her accurate”blood libel”statement in particular. It is to her credit that these hateful, vicious, obsene people are her enemies and not her friends. It is obvious, even to an outside observer, that they hate her so much, that there is vertuously nothing she could say that they would not twist to demonize her. – And isn’t that exactly what they did to Jesus? – Read your Bible, check it out.

  27. Ross Yerkes,

First off, it’s spelled o.b.s.c.e.n.e. and not obsene, as you spell it.

Second, if you’re not you’re Jewish, then it isn’t for you to accept or reject what Jewish people in the U.S. and in Israel deem is anti-Semitic. The use of the term “blood libel” carries the weight of history.

And lastly, for you to compare Sarah Palin to Jesus Christ suggests you are completely and thoroughly insane. Get help.

  28. Dave Smith says:

The problem with Jews is they are a horrible cult.

Cults are horrible period, but in the case of the Jewish people things are different. Judaism is a recent creation based upon the Hebrews of the Old Testament. There are no real Jews, they were a recent creation to oppose the spread of Islam and Christianity by the gold/silver loving nomadic Turkic people near modern day Russia. Need I say more? The elite mass converted to this and for years abused the whole chosen one rhetoric to kill innocents. This led to horrible racist ideologies such as Zionism and the modern day paranoid military state of Israel. The holocaust is largely a hoax with a death toll in the thousands. It’s even worse than that. Just remember when a Jew tells you you are antisemtic tell them ‘who cares’? Jews are 2% of the USA population and .2% of the world. They can say what they want, nearly 100% of the world outnumbers them. A real Holocaust is encouraged by rationals who intend to eliminate the cult. Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, California, Missouri, and Utah all have covert plans which fully intend to place American Jews in FEMA camps and eventually eliminate them if they will not renounce their Jewry. This is the only solution to global peace.

  29. Dave Smith,

Not all Jews are Zionists anymore than all Catholics are members of Opus Dei.

As for Judaism being a “recent creation,” recent compared to what? Scientology? Judaism has a continued historical record spanning more than 3,000 years. 1,000 years longer than Christianity. There are many people who hold that Catholicism is also a cult.

But your call to eliminate Jewish people from the world is disturbing. We had someone by the name of Adolph Hitler who tried this in the 20th century. How did this turn out for him?

As for your claim there is an effort underway in a number of states, including California to cull Jews from our ranks is simply not factual. I live in California, I was born and raised in California and I have never, ever heard such a thing and with any luck, I never will.

If you harbor anti-Semitic thoughts and feelings, this is your right but I don’t appreciate you spewing such views on my Blog.
