Obama Visits Oil-Soaked Gulf and Enjoys a Snowball

Monday, June 14, 2010

President Obama made his fourth visit to the oil-soaked Gulf region today and wasted no time enjoying a tasty snowball with Republican Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.

Why, if I didn’t know better, I might think the president was on vacation.

  1. Big Hank says:

And this is the guy the American people want to see get angrier at BP?

This is like expecting a tough, journalistic question from Katie Couric. Manage your expectations, folks.

  2. retahyajyajav says:

    Big Hank,

I’m afraid my expectation are as low as at anytime in my adult life when it comes to Washington taking the bull by the horns.

Sadly, I think BP runs the country and every elected lawmaker — including President Obama.

  3. Chad Lebanon says:

    President Barack Obama
    Intelligence: 10
    Instincts: 2

    Case closed.

  4. R.J. says:

The only way this could be worse would be if President Obama and Haley Barbour went fishing.

  5. Bep says:

The only thing worse is if the picture showed Obama blowing Barbour.

  6. Mets Fan says:

Boss Hog to Obama: “Come on Mr. President, come lick my sweet petroleum balls.”

  7. The worst thing was when Obama said Gulf seafood was safe. “Eat it America,” he did not exactly say, but that’s what he meant. Reminescent of W telling us to go shopping after 9/11, no?

  8. fran says:

Barbour has dead dolphins washing up on the shores of Mississippi, yet he is whining about how the media is whipping people up in to a frenzy about oily beaches. Another GOP’er victim of the media.

All while still chanting Drill Baby Drill.
Just wait till businesses fold & the foreclosures roll in like the oil BP spilled.

Barbour’s next campaign will be come on down, bring the kids, come play in the gulf waters…. just sign this waiver.

For the record, I hate Obama’s Gulf Coast photo ops….. staged, metered. All so tidy & neat.

  9. Joe in Colorado says:

In all fairness to Obama, I see how he might want to give an impression of normalcy so people will keep visiting and supporting the region. But, the reality is, there is nothing “normal” about the Gulf states now.

  10. Brigadoon says:

From a purely PR standpoint, this is an epic failure and Obama’s handlers are obviously off their game if they think images like this will attract tourists to the area this summer.

  11. lea-lea says:

Through the lens of politics, your every step, word and nuance is looked at, analyzed and interrupted by the camera and pundits.

Obama didn’t do anything wrong eating a snow cone but it makes him look out of touch and disconnected.
