Israel to Bestow Medal of Valor to Commando Who Killed Six Passengers in Aid Convoy

Saturday, June 5, 2010

It’s becoming more and more difficult to find that mid-point which allows me to support Israel’s moral right to exist and the equally legitimate right of the Palestinian people to also exist. Especially in light of stories like this.

Six of passengers killed in an Israeli raid on an humanitarian aid convoy bound for Gaza were shot by a single Israeli commando. He is being considered for a medal of valour by the Israeli government for saving his injured compatriots who were attacked by startled passengers with clubs, knives and even guns.

The jack-booted Israeli thug who killed six of the passengers was identified only as “Staff Sergeant S” for security reasons.

Contrary to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanhayu’s shocking assertion that all the passengers aboard the flotilla were “dangerous radicals with ties to terrorist groups,” a report from a British passenger who witnessed the deadly pre-dawn attack which took place in international waters, said some of the activists on board tried to protect captured Israeli soldiers from being set upon by a group of violent passengers, most of them believed to be Turks linked to an Islamic charity accused by Israel of having links to extremists.

  1. Harry says:

“Staff Sergeant S” should be bestowed with a court martial and a stint in a Gaza jail cell.

  2. Arizona Leatherneck says:

The Medal of Valor is the highest award given and is typically given to honor military or public safety personnel who have served with special gallantry.

The Medal of Valor was given to:

    * the 442 public safety officers (police, firefighters and EMS workers) who were killed in the line of duty during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and The Pentagon

    * extraordinary and courageous service in WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and in Iraq and Afghanistan

Perhaps, the rules are different for Israeli Naval officers? I mean, the results of the government’s investigation of the Memorial Day events aren’t yet complete. So it strikes me as more than a little odd that Bibi would push for such recognition.

Maybe the results of the investigation are already known? If you know what I mean. 😉

  3. Too bad he didn’t kill a dozen, that second medal could come in handy if the Sarge ever misplaced the first.

  4. bradfrmphnx says:

It’s easy to place all blame on this cretin Sargeant who deserves a good portion. However, we should remember that he was following someone else’s orders, someone who put him in the position to kill. How cheap life has become for Netanhayu and the rest of the Israeli goons. When I see how Israelis speak of Obama and the United States on YouTube, I have to wonder why are we giving them one single penny of aide? All of Obama’s work to heal our standing in the Muslim countries just gets shot to hell.

  5. Estacada says:

How many incidents like this will it take until the good people of Israel realize that Bibi Netanhayu has an agenda of his own and that agenda includes war with Lebanon and Iran?

He’s not interested in peace and he’s doesn’t care if his agenda drags the U.S. into another conflict we can’t afford to get involved in.

I’ve said all along, Bibi is an anachronism and stuck in 1967.

  6. Peace Nick says:

Just remember, there are two infallible people in the world:

    1. Pope Benedict XVI
    2. Benjamin Netanhayu

As long as we remember this, all is right on earth.

  7. Thai Noodles says:

    What’s the expression?

“The blood of 10,000 Arabs isn’t equal to blood of a single Jew.” It’s this mentality that forms the basis for Netanhayu’s world view.

  8. Kate Novotny says:

Israel’s isolation from the global community of nations is nearly complete.

Not only is this very dangerous for Israel’s neighbors like Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Egypt, it’s extremely troubling for the United States.

I have become alarmed at the possibility of President Obama launching a military attack against Iran (akin to what Hillary Clinton posited during the 2008 presidential campaign), if Obama finds his poll numbers further tanking and reelection seeming less certain.

Consider that few things rally the American people around a president like war. President Obama may not attack Iran overtly but covertly through our favorite puppet regime, AKA, Israel.

  9. joost says:

    Kate Novotny,

You’re just too smart for your own good! That is why I enjoy your comments on Huffington Post.

I hadn’t thought of it but I don’t think Obama is above involving our military in some type of action against Iran to hike his popularity. No matter how honorable they are when they arrive, by the end of their first term, every president is motivated by his own political survival.

  10. Bill Hussein O'Reilly says:

Israel is behaving like a spoiled brat because they’ve never been selected to be one of the ten, rotating members of the UN Security Council.

But in 2010, Turkey enjoyed this aplomb.

You are quick to believe that President Obama will start a war to enhance his popularity, but will you be as quick to apologize when he proves you wrong, or will you just find another reason to put him down.
