I don’t know why Exxon Mobile hates ‘teh gays.’
Ever since Exxon and Mobil merged, a proposal has come before the shareholders to add sexual orientation to the company’s nondiscrimination policy and each year the percentage of shareholders voting in favor of the proposal has increased — until 2010.
Today, only 22% of Exxon Mobil shareholders voted in favor of adding the protections during the annual meeting at the Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas but last year, 40% of shareholders voted in favor of the proposal.
As consumers, we can all make informed choices. Personally, when Exxon Mobil chose to eliminate domestic partner benefits for the LGBT employees, I shredded my credit card. I hope more consumers decide to make their relationship with Exxon Mobil a thing of the past.
