Exxon Mobil Rejects Adding “Sexual Orientation” to Company’s Employment Policy

Thursday, May 27, 2010

I don’t know why Exxon Mobile hates ‘teh gays.’

Ever since Exxon and Mobil merged, a proposal has come before the shareholders to add sexual orientation to the company’s nondiscrimination policy and each year the percentage of shareholders voting in favor of the proposal has increased — until 2010.

Today, only 22% of Exxon Mobil shareholders voted in favor of adding the protections during the annual meeting at the Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas but last year, 40% of shareholders voted in favor of the proposal.

As consumers, we can all make informed choices. Personally, when Exxon Mobil chose to eliminate domestic partner benefits for the LGBT employees, I shredded my credit card. I hope more consumers decide to make their relationship with Exxon Mobil a thing of the past.

I don’t know about the rest of the country but where I live, Exxon Mobil gas the most expensive and their stations are always empty. Consumers vote with their pocket book too. I would never buy Exxon Mobil gas because of their antigay, corporate stance.

  2. Tiny Dancer says:

    Exxon Mobil is very peculiar.

Other oil companies like Chevron, and Hess, added “sexual orientation” to their non-discrimination handbook many years ago. But Exxon Mobil seems committed to the 1950’s.

  3. fairlane says:

fuck, i haven’t visited one of their stations in years because of their abysmal environmental record.

    this reaffirms my decision.

as a straight male, i must admit i’m perplexed by discrimination against gays. the way i see it is, the more gay males there are the more pussy there is for me.

    basic math.

  4. Bill Hussein O'Reilly says:

Exxon Mobil don’t like them Gay dollars?

Then they really are stupid shitbirds. Don’t these corporate morons know gays spend more on average than the rest of us?

  5. retahyajyajav says:

Good. I don’t use their gas anyway.

And trust me, I will blab this story to everyone I know and I have a large family and everyone drives and owns two or more cars.

  6. I am glad my Solar /hydrogen Hybrid car is going to be moving into production soon. NO on BP and now NO on EXM means getting gas is going to be harder.

But if I have to walk—well I do need some new shoes anyway.

  7. Nan Yun says:

    What a vile company.

  8. Jim says:

    Ah, the oil companies…
    Exxon can go fuck itself.
