Notorious Leader of Antigay Movement Caught with RentBoy

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

This is getting all too familiar. One of America’s most viciously homophobic Christian right leaders, George Rekers, hired a boy from the gay prostitute site for luggage “handling,” or so he claims. for the uninitiated is a service that connects monied men with sexy rent boys to engage in the boom-boom-wow.

According to Miami’s New Times, Rekers was spotted At Miami International Airport with one of the male “luggage handlers” bought and paid from in tow as they returned to the U.S. from a swell 10-day European vacation on their way to more private “bag handling” action in Bermuda.

Rekers told the reporter, “”I had surgery, and I can’t lift luggage. That’s why I hired him.”

George Rekers, along with James Dobson, founded the Family Research Council, and sits on the board of another notorious homophobic hate group, NARTH (the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality).

According to Truth Wins Out’s Wayne Besen, “While he [Rekers] keeps a low public profile, his fingerprints are on almost every anti-gay effort to demean and dehumanize LGBT people. His work is ubiquitously cited by lobby groups that work to deny equality to LGBT Americans. Rekers has caused a great deal of harm to gay and lesbian individuals.”

    What a disgusting asshole.

I guess the only way he can find love is a blank check and the promise of a vacation to Europe. I’d like to knock some sense into the idiot Rent Boy who signed on to this job.

  2. Aunt Peg says:

There’s a word for someone like this: hypocrite.

  3. Peace Nick says:

“Rent boy, come here. Model a few of those Speedos I bought for you in Barcelona.”

George Alan Rekers is despicable but, alas, my guess is he will survive this scandal and go on another day to destroy the psyche of a gay or lesbian youth kicked out of their family home somewhere in the South because the parents are God fearing Christians.

  4. Geoff says:

Not a surprise. I have found in my own life the the most virulent gay haters are usually in the closet themselves and simply afraid of it.

  5. Walk on Socks says:

Never heard of George Rekers but, I’m not always up on the entire pantheon professional homo haters.

However, I’ve heard of RentBoy and just on principle, I think they should’ve done a better job screening their client list. After all, his money is dirty money and I can’t believe they’re so desperate for customers that they couldn’t have just declined his request for a boy whore?

    Peace Nick,

I have to tell you. The South is a cesspool of corruption. The very people stumbling around calling themselves “christians” are the main ones doing all of the things they’re trying to pass laws to control/prohibit. I retired last year after teaching school for 33 years in a small town in Central GA in the middle of the so-called Biblebelt. Many of the “christian” girls had abortions, got pregnant, and had sex before they were married. Almost the all of the girls on the basketball and softball teams were lesbians, and some of our male jocks were gay and/or bisexual. The parents put up a good front and engage in a lot of delusional thinking, but it doesn’t change the fact that these types of things exist in this small community. Adultery among the married adults is also not above these dyed-in-the- wool “christians.” They use their form of “christianity” to cover up their own corruption. Rape, murder, pedophilia, matricide, patricide, kidnapping, prostitution, fraud of all kinds, drug dealing/use, etc should be under control here, but it is not because of the fact that many citizens and politicians do these things all of the time. The movers and shakers keep the masses mollified by feeding them a steady diet of buzzwords and ignorant azz talking points, the same ones used by rw radio entertainers and Fuchs Noose entertainers. If by chance one of the movers and shakers gets arrested or accused of committing a crime, their base is so stupid that it rallies around them and begins generating excuses to justify the behavior. We have Nathan Deal, Karen Handel, and John Oxendine running in the Republican Party for governor, and each one of them has filthy baggage he/she is carrying, but the natives don’t care because they are republicans. But they have a totally different reaction if it is a LBGTQ person, a person of color, an immigrant, or an undocumented immigrant. In their minds people who fit into these categories don’t deserve one iota of compassion, and the masses move on to immediate condemnation usually starting with suggestions like shooting, hanging, castration, suffocation, torture, etc. Because they consider people in these groups to be less than human, they feel that their calls for violence are justified. I’m a heterosexual African American female who has lived in GA all of my life, and I’ve had enough contact with them to know what motivates them, and it can be boiled down to a few words: unmitigated hatred, ignorance, homophobia, bigotry, hypocrisy, an acceptance of pathological lying for political/social/persoal gain, seeing themselves as always being the victim of an imaginary enemy, xenophobia, and above all, fear of everything/one who dares to be different than they are in one way or another.

I can’t stand these hypocrites! Rekers is a fucking laughing stock, morally challenged, and discredited by contemporary psychiatric thinking about the validity of conversion therapy. He’s a slut boy screwer and even worse, his 70’s stash is tired and dated. Rekers is pathetic.

  9. Stephan Iversonn says:

I never heard of him either so I looked him up on Wikipedia and found a fascinating, heavily biased write up.

George Alan Rekers is described a “Distinguished Professor of Neuropsychiatry & Behavioral Science Emeritus at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.”

In 2008, Rekers was also an expert witness in In re: Gill, a case defending Florida’s gay adoption ban. Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Cindy Lederman ruled against the state. In her decision, she said “Dr. Rekers’ testimony was far from a neutral and unbiased recitation of the relevant scientific evidence. Dr. Rekers’ beliefs are motivated by his strong ideological and theological convictions that are not consistent with the science. Based on his testimony and demeanor at trial, the court can not consider his testimony to be credible nor worthy of forming the basis of public policy.”

The Rent Boy scandal is mentioned but dismissed based on Rekers’ antigay philosophies.

It appears that Rekers joins the long list of closeted gay men who for either cultural, religious or family reasons, can’t be true to his authentic sexual identity.

  10. Chad Lebanon says:

His profile on Facebook is George Alan Rekers.

Send him some love, if you know what I mean. 😉

  11. Jose Soto says:

  12. Justin says:

    I had surgery,and I can’t lift luggage. That’s why I hired him.”
Uhhhh it’s called tipping the SkyCap!

  13. Blah says:

Dry that one out and you can fertilize the lawn.

  14. bradfrmphnx says:

    He sounds like the Pope.

Why is it that repressed people are always trying to find a “cure” for something that is as normal and natural as the sun rising in the morning?

  15. bradfrmphnx says:

Jesus Christ! I just searched for ol’ George’s name on facebook. Was gonna leave him a message like
Chad suggested. Instead I found a link that if you scroll down a little bit, it shows Georgy Boy’s prostitue errrrrr…. baggage handler. I gotta say, I’m as strait as they come, but that is one good looking dude. Damn!

  16. HalfGay says:

Okay – so I went on the site to see if there was absolutely anyway you could mistake the site for anything but a male escort site. Sooooo, I guess the naked men with their manimals hanging out at attention was something you could miss. Or the ads on the side of 2 boys rubbing each others manimals. Yeah, I can see how it was just a guy who was going to carry his luggage ….. and whatever else he was paying for. Shocker.

  17. this is getting so predictable

  18. Randy Arroyo says:

So this clown was an esteemed professor at the University of South Carolina? What the hell is it about South Carolina? The Fabulous Miss Lindsey Graham, Gov. Mark Sanford, and George Alan Rekers. It’s a freak show worthy of Jerry Springer!

  19. chlost says:

Coulda/shoulda put $$$ on it. I think Rent Boy has performed a public service here……

  20. Jolly Roger says:

This is damn near normal. It is far from anything that even raises an eyebrow.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; the louder a Jesusistani screams about YOUR sins, the more he is trying to keep you from looking too closely at HIM. I honestly believe a lot of these people become Jesusistanis in an attempt to fool everyone around them. They think that thumping that Bible will cause us all to believe that they are righteous, pure souls.

We know what they are; pedophiles, wife beaters, physical and sexual abusers of family members, drunks, gamblers, etc. etc.

  21. Estacada says:

Evidently, the identity of Rekers’ baggage handler was revealed on Facebook.

He’s a gay, Portuguese young man, who has worked as a male prostitute for several years. I hope he dishes the dirty and tells one of the websites of magazines all the details about their 10 day European holiday.

Christopher, you should try to get the interview. What a great thing for you to add to your blog!

  22. Gleneagle says:

George Rekers, one of the United State’s most prominent anti-gay activists, also purports the idea that homosexuality can be cured through prayer.

He also said on the record that homosexuality is “the work of demons.”

His BFF, George Dobson also warbled this religious clap-trap, claiming gays can be turned straight through “the power of prayer.”

I would be curious to know more about the friendship between these two men. Did they attend circuit parties in South Carolina together along with Lindsey Graham?

  23. feminazi says:

I agree with bradfrmphnx. Rekers is a hypocrite and he has much in common with Pope Ratzinger. People who live in the shadows and secretive are dangerous and should be avoided. For a learned man to take the position there is anything wrong with being gay or lesbian is to me, counterintuitive and not remotely well informed. Rekers is proof that a college degree in way means you’re smart.

  24. Barbapappa says:

This is just too much: Rekers reportedly admitted to hiring the companion on the 10-day European vacation through the internet site “” as a “travel assistant” and denies any impropriety. Rekers was quoted as commenting, “If you talk with my travel assistant … you will find I spent a great deal of time sharing scientific information on the desirability of abandoning homosexual intercourse, and I shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him in great detail.”

What a gem! I want to know what kind of scientific information he shared…
