CNN’s Rick Sanchez Thinks Hawaii is Off the Coast of South America

Monday, March 1, 2010

By now, everyone knows CNN’s Rick “Ritalin” Sanchez is an unwatchable idiot but this stunt firmly elevates the cable anchor to Glenn Beck status.

Shortly after the 8.8-magnitude temblor, fears grew about a tsunami hitting Hawaii, and that’s when Sanchez displayed a map of South America and went into overdrive.

“And this is Hawaii,” he said, pointing to the Galapagos Islands, some 500 miles off the coast of Ecuador. The actual Hawaiian islands are another 4,000 miles northwest of where Sanchez indicated. The bottle blonde female co-host agreed with Sanchez placing Hawaii off the coast of South America.

In another bizarre performance during Saturday’s coverage, Sanchez asked a tsunami expert to explain how much “nine meters” is.

“Nine meters in English is what?” Sanchez asked.

Nine meters is roughly 27 feet.

Does Sanchez know he’s on planet Earth? Someone should ask him. My guess is, he has no idea where he is, so why not place Hawaii near South America? Ted Turner really needs to buy CNN and fire all of these morons. Otherwise, CNN’s ratings will continue to shrink.

Sanchez is the quintessential know-nothing airhead news reader that passes for a news anchor in MSM today.

  3. Aunt Peg says:

Oh my God! What an ignoramus.

I only went to and graduated from high school and I know more about geography.

He will never live this one down

  5. Randy Arroyo says:

And people say I’m an elitist because I don’t watch CNN anymore? I’d like to think I don’t watch because there’s already a Comedy Central with Jon Stewart and he does it much better than Rick Sanchez.

  6. Estacada says:

ROFLMAO! I’m sorry I wasn’t home to watch TV on Saturday. It looks like CNN, once again, delivered the crazy.

How do people like this get hired in the first place?

Seriously, all the talented young, men and women who go to journalism school and CNN hires someone who is basically, functionally illiterate. Amazing.

  7. Fran says:

All he needs is a chalkboard, just like Glenno!

  8. feminazi says:

Ever since Ted Turner sold CNN to Time Warner, the cable news network has become the laughing stock of the cable news industry. We expect FOX to make these mistakes. MSNBC is better but they still employ people like Pat Buchanan and Harold Ford. But there was a time when CNN was the standard of excellence in journalism. No more. Look at the people they’ve fired and they people they’ve hired to be anchors? The current group are ‘D’-players.

  9. JollyRoger says:

And again, I get a reminder of why I never bother to turn on the Cheerleaders’ Neutered Network.

  10. Godless says:

Whaaat? It’s no big deal, he’s only off by, mmm…… a few thousand miles, right?

He’s probably just thinking of all the times that he flew to Hawaii and how the flight only took him a few hours, then he equated it like he would if he was driving.

No, that doesn’t work out either.

  11. Democracy7 says:

Yikes, his high school diploma clearly needs to be rescinded. Both basic geography and math? Epic fail.
