A Bow is Worse than a French Kiss?

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, made a fool of himself (again) when he attacked President Barack Obama for bowing Japanese Emperor Akihito.

Cheney told POLITICO.com:

“There is no reason for an American president to bow to anyone. Our friends and allies don’t expect it, and our enemies see it as a sign of weakness.”

However, Cheney (as well as the rest of the rabid rightwing) was silent when his boss, former President George W. Bush, french kissed Saudi Arabian Prince Abdullah.

Perhaps, our conservative friends can explain how Obama’s bow to Emperor Akihito is worse than Bush sinking his tongue down Prince Abdullah’s throat because frankly, I just don’t see it.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! How many Arab princes will George Bush kiss? If Pickles is out of town, Bush could go through a dozen or more. He and Jeff Gannon spent every weekend together for 18 months and media went deaf, dumb and blind.

  2. Abby Peripatetic says:

Christopher – You won’t get a straight answer from the conservatives.

Obama bowed to the Japanese Emperor and you would’ve thought he turned over national security secrets to him in the process.

Bush walks around the Rose Garden holding hands with an Arab prince in drag, frenches him and not a peep from the right or far right.

    Call it typical Republican hypocrisy.

  3. Peace Nick says:

I agree. Kissing an Arab oil prince is something the GOP celebrates.

Bowing to the nation who holds the second largest portion of our US Treasury bonds is wrong and un-American.

    WTF?

  4. Let’s get the UN to pass a resolution that we’ll all just skake hands from now on.

  5. JollyRoger says:

    IOKIYAR

Apparently, that goes for ANYTHING they want to do. Just ask John Ensign, or Mark Foley, or Caribou Barbie, or…

  6. TAO says:

You guys have it ALL WRONG…

You French Kiss those whom have been giving it to you up the ass for years…

You bow to those who you have not had the pleasure of taking it up the ass…

So, french kiss if an old whore…bow if a virgin…

  7. Given how many goopers are self-loathing, closeted homersexuals, are we really surprised that Chimpy got a free pass?

  8. Walk on Socks says:

The Bush clan has had their collective tongues wedged far up the Faad family’s arses for 65 years.

Baby Bush probably knew what Abdullah’s face tasted like before Babs’ face.

What Cheney said about “the bow,” well consider the source and the source is an unflushed toilet.

  9. Arizona Leatherneck says:

Too bad you don’t have pictures of Prince Abdullah giving it to George W. Bush up the ass.

Maybe this would bother Cheney, Limbaugh, Hannity and all the other haters on the far right who look for any opportunity to give Obama hell.

  10. Dmitris says:

Cheney needs to shut the f*ck up. He’s a disgrace to the office of Vice President and this country. Cheney can’t adjust to life outside the public eye and so he yaps, and yaps, and yaps. Obama is his favorite target and so it goes. If Obama cured cancer, AIDS and diabetes, Cheney would find fault. It’s how he rolls.

  11. Diva Deb says:

Who created this computer enhanced picture? You did a crappy job….wait…that’s all it takes to get you liberals going. FOX NEWS RULES & SO DOES GLENN BECK!!!!!!

  12. Locke DCVII says:

Taking political debates ad hominum should not be respected. ‘The Republicans do it too’ isn’t even a half respectable excuse. Although it’s theirs too, so…
But I hope rational conversation over ideas is more common among well-informed groups such as there is here than this pitiful name-calling. The frequent ‘up the ass’ remarks are rather ironic, considering.

  13. bradfrmphnx says:

Cheney and the rightwingnuts just want a reason to incite their mob, and try to undermine some of the good things Obama tries to do. The Prez will do what he will irregardless.

Waiting to see what his decision is on Afghanistan. We need a clear cut plan to get out of there.

  14. Gleneagle says:

Bush sinking his tongue down Prince Abdullah’s throat…

    Hahahahahahahaha!

I almost vomited when I first saw Bush give some sugar to Abdullah and I almost vomited seeing the image again now.

  15. lea-lea says:

    Diva Deb,

The image of Bush lip locking the Arab prince isn’t photo shopped. It happened. It’s real. It is also a disgusting example of the marriage between an oil boy from Texas and an oil boy from Saudi Arabia.

Viva Glenn Beck? A raped and killed a woman. Are you aware of this? Why are you celebrating such a man?

  16. JollyRoger says:

Some people think it’s perfectly OK that Glenn Beck is said to have raped and murdered a young girl in 1990.

Those same people also believe that somebody photoshopped a picture of their beloved monkey Messiah to show him making out with a Saudi prince. That “photoshopped” picture found its way into the media, undoubtedly by dirty librul journalist sleeper agents.

    Viva Stupid! Viva Ignorance!

  17. Jenna Bush Stole My ID says:

Hey, STFU y’all. Mah daddeh always liked Arab men wearing billowing dresses and mustaches that tickle mah daddeh’s taint. Don’t knock it, till y’all tried it.

  18. libhomo says:

I don’t like it when American leaders bow or kiss the rings of foreign leaders. Our nation is founded on the admirable rejection of monarchy.

However, the hysteria shown on the right about this undercuts their credibility. Even worse, we know the rightists would have attacked just as rabidly if Obama hadn’t bowed.

  19. Another thought says:

The bowing to the emperor was a sign of respect for a Japanese man (one is a leadership position). I could see Obama bowing to the head of Toyta as well. Choosing to show respect in a way that is common in the culture you are dealing with helps build and maintain soft capital that enables people/governments to work together in the future with other options other than war.

As for Bush’s kiss, that was the same thing. If one is comfortable with the customs, there is no reason one should not greet using them be it a bow, a kiss, or just a handshake.

  20. gerald says:

will beck kiss a negro or sara palin

  21. Gary Garrett says:

It seems like the republicans have a very selective memory. They want to criticize everything that Obama does (Like having a black dog and not a white one) somehow makes him prejudice, yet remain quiet about all the asinine things that Bush did during his term in office. Bush = 9/11 3000 Americans Dead. Obama = Osama Dead. ‘Nuff Said.
