The Los Angeles Times has confirmed Michael Jackson has died.

The legendary music icon was pronounced dead at 3:15PM PST today after arriving at the UCLA Medical Center in a coma. Jackson was preparing for a sold-out, 50 performance tour beginning next month in London.

Michael Jackson sold more than 750 million records globally in a career that spanned 40 years. His musical genius and style influenced a generation of singers and performers. I always loved the songs “Billy Jean,” “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” and “Human Nature.” While the last years of his life were crazy, I choose to remember him for the music.

This is just bizarre. I can’t believe it. Something just doesn’t add up.

MJ’s lawyer said he was abusing prescription drugs.

In fact, the lawyer said MJ’s prescription drug use would have made Anna Nicole Smith an amateur.

It must suck to be a famous family, though – this news was out in like an hour and a half. His family couldn’t possibly have all been contacted before the headlines hit.

  4. Matteo says:

    Michael Jackson was very ill.

He was ailing from a rare lung condition called Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, a condition that can be fatal. He needed to undergo a transplant, according to the author of a new biography on the King of Pop.

    May you find peace, Michael.

  6. MacDaddy says:

Beyond the financial problems, the eccentricity, he was a great talent and will be missed.

I liked him when he was a kid, and when he wrote Thriller. After that he just creeped me out. Its hard for me to get warm and fuzzy feelings for a man of 40+ years who felt the need to have sleep overs with ten year old boys. Let’s be real on that.

As an entertainer he was without peer, just look at the picture above. His personal demons were his undoing. Does that show the weakness of his character, or the fractured psyche from being the King of Pop? I’ll let history decide that.

“Last year, a celebrity biographer claimed Jackson suffered from a rare respiratory disease and was in need of a lung transplant – a claim his publicists have denied.”

  9. Joe in Colorado says:

They said on CNN last night that Michael Jackson had global, lifetime record sales numbering in the 750 million range. I can’t imagine being so famous and known. If you were alive in 1983 (I was in high school) you couldn’t escape the Michael Jackson sound, He was everywhere and I think I heard him on the radio or MTV or on my record player every day — for years and years.
