Whatever they’re drinking these days in Alabama, Sen. Richard Shelby (R) drank obviously too much of it before attempting to answer a question from a constituent last week about President Obama.
According to the Cullman Times, Sen. Shelby said:
“Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven’t seen any birth certificate. You have to be born in America to be president.”
Besides being resolutely disrespectful, the question of Obama’s citizenship was resolved long ago when then-candidate Obama posted a copy of his Hawaiian birth certificate on his webpage, Fight the Smears.
For anyone (including Sen. Richard Shelby) who still doubts Barack Obama was born in the USA, you can view his birth certificate HERE.
