Quote of the Day

“By the historical standards of presidential hubris, Obama’s disingenuous defense of his tone-deaf invitation to Warren is nonetheless a relatively tiny infraction. It’s no Bay of Pigs. But it does add an asterisk to the joyous inaugural of our first black president. It’s bizarre that Obama, of all people, would allow himself to be on the wrong side of this history.” — Frank Rich, in his Sunday column, chastising Obama for inviting Rick Warren to perform the invocation

  1. I also found this. I just thought it was interesting take.

I’m still in favor of flooding Obama’s in box with e mails saying Warren is unacceptable.
It’s not too late to make the change & get rid of Warren. The more mail he gets, the more they will realize what a huge mistake this is.

Lots of people are saying oh it’s just a few minute prayer- I don’t buy it. If the man is publicly discriminating, he does not deserve to be a part of the ceremony.

It’s the damned 21st century & a large part of the population is denied their civil rights- we need to stop pretending thats ok.

  3. TOM339 says:

Frank Rich calls Obama’s pigheadedness an “asterisk,” while I call it a pox on what should have been a joyous celebration.

Where is David Duke? If Warren is going to be there, then so should David Duke. How is Warren different?

Fran is correct. This is the 21st century and Obama doesn’t owe the Rick Warrens of the world a fucking thing.

I work with an African American man who said Obama is suffering from a “massa complex.” I think he hit the nail on the head.

  4. Harry says:

This controversy isn’t going away and my great hope is, when this fat-ass Warren appears on stage, many in the audience rise and turn their backs to him.

Rich is such a brilliant and insightful writer. I have grown so accustomed to his Sunday op-ed pieces. I also think Obama will rue the day he ever asked this religious extremist to sit at the table. The reason? Because when the history of his inaugural is penned Rick Warren will be tied to it.

Great poster art! I hope this becomes available on a T-Shirt. Any plans to offer is as a merchandising item?

  7. MacDaddy says:

I’ve always been admirer of Rich’s writing. Through the entire presidential campaign, he spoke the truth, whether it was about Obama, Hillary Clinton, or her hubby Bill.

He is speaking the truth now. Hallelujah!

  8. Hi Adirondacky,

One of my goals for 2009 is to move my blog off the WordPress server to a private hosting service.

WordPress maintains strict rules against advertising unless you move your blog off their server.

I expect to make major changes to this blog in the coming year which includes private hosting, so stay tuned. Thanks for the input.
