Senator Caroline Kennedy (D-NY).

Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, has decided to pursue the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by Hillary Clinton.

A source close to Kennedy told the New York Times of her decision.

Caroline Kennedy, will ask New York Gov. David Patterson to consider her for the appointment. If appointed, Ms. Kennedy would fill the seat once held by her uncle, Robert Kennedy.

  1. Stradella says:

    I love Caroline Kennedy!

I loved her father and both her uncles. She will make a wonderful senator. What an improvement over Hillary Clinton!

  2. Harry says:

Works for me. Caroline Kennedy brings so much to the table. She’s 1000% better than Hillary Clinton.

  3. Jim says:

Fantastic! I think she’ll make a fine senator.

  4. Rachel says:

I’ve always admired Caroline Kennedy. I sure hope Gov. Patterson appoints her. As a native New Yorker, I think she understands the state, the people and the challenges very well. Plus, she’s very smart.

  5. Bill Hussein O'Reilly says:

Caroline Kennedy? Yeah, I’d hit it.

  6. Mauigirl says:

I think it’s great. I think her experience running a foundation and all of the other things she’s been doing behind the scenes all these years will stand her in good stead at that job.

  7. Adirondacky says:

Now that her kids are older, it seems natural for Caroline to step into a more public role. Her support of President-elect Obama seemed to signal a sort of emergence of a more high profile figure versus a person who remains in the background. I’m thrilled to see her step forward like this.

  8. JollyRoger says:

I come neither to praise nor to condemn her; I just have that normal hinky feeling I always have when it comes to dynasty politics. The whole thing is unseemly to me.

  9. Kristin says:

    @ Bill Hussein O’Reilly Lmao

@JollyRoger I agree with you I am on the fence about her seeking an appointment. I wonder if the people of New York would elect her actually had to run for the senate.

  10. While not a fan of political dynasies myself I will say this about the Kennedy’s. They are a long line of folks who have been fighting for the poor and impoverished for three generations at least. These are incredibly wealthy people who are fighting for what they believe in.

That my friends is the big difference between a Bush and a Kennedy. I for one think that it is a great idea. It would be good to see her continue the work that her father began all those years ago.

  11. Joanne Cassidy says:

Caroline Kennedy was not properly served by the Obama White House, who owed her big time and let her just swing in the wind. Shameful.
