IL Gov. Blagodouche Calls Obama a “Motherf****r”

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested today for engaging in a stunning political crime spree that included a “pay-for-play” scheme to “sell” the vacated Senate once held by President-elect Barack Obama.

Blagojevich was overheard by the FBI wiretaps saying “I want to make money,” complaining he was “financially hurting.”

It is conduct that would make Lincoln roll over in his grave,” said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in announcing the charges today in Chicago.

Fitzgerald said the Governor’s efforts to “sell” the Senate seat was the “most sinister and appalling” of a range of alleged corrupt acts detailed in today’s case. The FBI says Blagojevich wanted an appointment to the Obama cabinet as Secretary of Health and Human Services, a well-paying job or huge campaign contributions as the price for naming Obama’s successor.

Told by two other advisers he has to “suck it up” for two years, the FBI says it heard Blagojevich complain he has to give this “motherf***er [the President-elect] his Senator. F*** him. For nothing? F*** him.”

Aware that he was under FBI investigation, Blagojevich apparently considered appointing himself to Obama’s Senate seat, the affidavit says. He is quoted as saying “he will be able to obtain greater resources if he is indicted as a sitting Senator as opposed to a sitting governor.”

He was arrested this morning on a two count criminal complaint and is expected in court later today.

I’m glad to see this son-of-a-bitch be led away by the FBI in handcuffs.

Corruption has been the order of the day in this town for 90 years. I remember listening to my grandfather’s stories about corruption in Chicago when I was a boy and he was trying to work as an independent electrician. He was never able to crack to city contracts because he refused to participate in kickback schemes.

    Blagojevich is a mobster.

  2. DMason says:

What amazes me is, these guys never think they will get caught. Gov. Blagojevich says he had money problems. What is his annual salary? He must make at least $150,00o a year? He can’t live on this?

    Arrogant?

He sounds crazy, if you ask me. I never heard of this governor before but he sounds like a real piece of work.

  4. Aunt Peg says:

OK, here’s a dumb question for you wonks?

Can Blagojevich remain in office pending the outcome of his trial?

It seems to me the Lt. Governor should become governor and make the appointment to fill Obama’s vacated senate seat.

  5. Bel Ami says:

This isn’t a dumb question, Aunt Peg. I wondered the samething. Will Illinois hold a special election to replace the governor? In any case, Blago should resign his office. He’s radioactive now.

Is it in the water in Illinois?

3 Former Illinois Governors have Served Jailtime since 1970s

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081209/ap_on_re_us/governors_prison

Three former Illinois governors have gone to prison in the past 35 years, and a host of other governors have gotten into legal trouble.

_Otto Kerner, a Democrat who was governor from 1961 to 1968, served less than a year of a three-year sentence after his 1973 conviction on bribery, tax evasion and other counts. He was convicted of arranging favorable horse racing dates as governor in return for getting horse racing association stock at reduced prices. Kerner died in 1976.

_Dan Walker, a Democrat who was governor from 1973 to 1977, served 1 1/2 years of a seven-year sentence after pleading guilty in 1987 to bank fraud, misapplication of funds and perjury. The charges were not related to his service as governor.

_George Ryan, a Republican who was governor from 1999 to 2003, was convicted of corruption in 2006 for steering state contracts and leases to political insiders and helping cover up bribes paid in return for truck drivers licenses while he was secretary of state and then governor. He is serving a 6 1/2-year prison term.

In addition, William Stratton, Illinois governor from 1953-1961, was later indicted but was acquitted on charges of income tax evasion.

WTF? Are people crazy? I’m glad Barack didn’t get in with this dirty muhvucka.

  8. TOM339 says:

Blagojevich bonded out for a mere $4,500.

Bond is typically 10% so the Feds could only hold him for $45,000? What am I missing here?

This is a Federal corruption charge. They couldn’t hold him for at least $100,000?

Sometimes I don’t understand our legal system.

  9. Lazy-I says:

Why all the anger directed at Obama? I didn’t know there was so much much bad blood between Gov. Blagojevich and the president-elect? It’s as though Blagojevich really held Obama in contempt. So odd.

  10. Brigadoon says:

Looks like Palin found her running mate in this douchebag Blagojevich. They may be from different political parties but they sound like philosophical twins. Palin/Blago 2012. Perfect!

  11. Rachel says:

Thank you Patrick Fitzgerald! You did good.

  12. Ulysses Washed Ashore says:

Rod Blagojevich is one creepy looking dude. He reminds me of the late Charles Bronson without his signature acne scars.

  13. ChiTOM says:

    Hey guys,

News/Talk 720 WGN is reporting Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) is saying he wants a special election to replace Gov. Blagojevich.

Durbin wants this political mess cleaned up ASAP and the business of the the people of Illinois to continue on without any needless distractions.

The state legislature is expected to convene an emergency session to address the problem.

  14. Mauigirl says:

What reprehensible conduct. Glad he got caught.

I hope we still get a Democratic senator out of this though…who gets to make the appointment now?

  15. Prairiedog says:

Gov. George Ryan? Isn’t he the former husband of the actress Geri Ryan who played the character named ‘Seven of Six’ on the TV series Star Trek Voyager?

  16. Walk on Socks says:

    Prairiedog,

Jeri Ryan’s character was Seven of Nine, and she was married to Jack Ryan who was going to run as an Illinois senator.

Jack Ryan was a real pig. He was forced to withdraw from the race because of a sex scandal.

George Ryan was a much older man and was elected Illinois governor but he wasn’t married to Jeri Ryan.

    Hope this helps.

  17. libhomo says:

The timing is interesting. This clown has been involved in illegal activities for years, but he only gets arrested when he supports workers taking over a plant in Illinois.

  18. ANNE says:

This should put paid to the notion that Obama was involved in this hare-brained scheme. Of course, there are a lot of rabid Obama-haters who choose to believe the worst of him in all circumstances.
The governor’s words work against him alone. He obviously didn’t learn from getting in trouble before and has cut his own throat this time.

Now that the Supreme Court has refused to hear the lawsuit questioning Obama’s nationality–and therefore his presidency–some folks are latching onto this issue as another reason he shouldn’t be president. It’s as if they want him to mess up during the next 4 years in order to confirm all their negativity about him.

  19. Fran says:

Blagojevich went from hero to zero in 1 day.

Just yesterday he announced the State of Illinois would no longer do business with the Bank Of America, Illinois does “hundreds of millions of dollars” in business with the bank, he said. They wanted the Bank of America to release some of the $25 billion bailout funds to honor the layed off workers Union termination benefits.
He was supporting the sit in workers in Chicago. In fact he announced they would “go to court today to get an injunction to make sure the fired workers at the shut down plant got paid”.

Instead, he himself got arrested in a phone wiretap sting, where all the damning evidence came right from his own mouth

As for his bail, as a part of his release, he had to surrender his passport. They probably have him under surveillance- this is a series of Federal crimes.

    His career is over.
Fitzpatrick read through a list of schemes and deals where the Guv was soliciting & demanding kickbacks. Even $ for a Children’s hospital!

    He screwed up, big time.
The power & money went to his head.

Now he can only hope to make $ writing memoirs from jail.
