McCandy: “Our Daughter is Pregnant”

Monday, September 1, 2008

John McCain’s presumptive vice presidential candidate, McCandy Palin, breathlessly announced her 17 year old, unwed daughter, Bristol is pregnant with her second first child.

The increasingly bizarre saga of the Palin clan today issued the following statement:

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”

The curious timing of the announcement seems designed to pushback against internet rumors that McCandy had faked her last pregnancy and pretended in April to give birth to her fifth child, a son named Trig who has Down syndrome. The rumor is that Trig is actually Bristol’s child and McCandy is actually the grandmother.

The decision to add the Alaska governor to the John McCain ticket has managed to infuse a theatrical element to the GOP presidential race, with equal parts country western music and trailer park soap opera.

  1. Sasha in MN says:

Busy little beavers, keep pumping them out………..

She’s not old enough to vote but she’s ready to be a mother and wife? I’m interested in the success rate of shotgun marriages.

Also, this news is being released in the midst of all the hurricane Gustav coverage while they’ve all known for awhile…. how convenient for them.

I would think this young girl would need her mom now more than ever and hopefully (borrowing a handle I saw) “Caribou Barbie” won’t fail to teach her other four children the importance and necessity of abstinence before marriage if she wants to consider herself a true conservative, Christian and role model on parenting.

  2. Nathan says:

Total and utter bs. I can’t believe the media has refused to touch the real story here. There must be a lot of powerful Republicans with money in the newsroom, that’s all I know to say.

  3. R.J. says:

    Where’s Sarah’s medical records? Where’s Bristol’s attendance records?

This is one lie on top of another.

  4. Travelingman says:

Boy that absitnence only education is the shit isn’t it!

  5. Aunt Peg says:

This broad is willing to throw her daughter under the bus to hide the truth about the Downs Syndrome baby?

    Appalling. Nauseating. So typical.

If Obama’s surrogates don’t seize on this to paint the stark differences between the tickets the American people have this year, then they deserve to lose.

  6. Conejo1982 says:

I wondered if John McCain’s camp was aware of the rumors about Sarah Palin swirling around the blogosphere?

Guess I got an answer. Not only are they aware, but they’re inventing pregnancies to refute the parentage of Bristol’s first child.

This is truly disgusting. McCain has picked himself a good one.

  7. Harry says:

Hahahahaha! Love the picture! No wonder straight guys say they’ll vote for McCain. His VP looks like a hooker. 🙂

  8. Joe in Colorado says:

The GOP handlers are rewriting Palin’s story so quickly that they’re beginning to step over facts and as a result, leading to more questions and a flimsier CV. Now, the Republicans gathered in St. Paul might fall for it, but the left certainly won’t, so it is up to us to keep this story alive as long as possible.

  9. Adirondacky says:

Central to Republican orthodoxy is the embrace of abstinence-only and allegedly, Sarah Palin and John McCain both embrace abstinence-only education. Yet there’s more screwing going on here than in an adult, hardcore movie. How do you spell hypocrisy?

  10. joost says:

What I find interesting is the mainstream bloggers like Johnny Asshole, Marcos and Josh Marshall, bloggers who rely on their sites for income, so they’re as careful and ultimately, as irrelevant, as the corporate media, refused to touch this story.

But the second and third tier bloggers, bloggers who have real jobs and don’t rely on their blogs to generate income to survive, have turned out to be the real heros and fearlessly stepped up to report about Sarah Palin.

I think what we’re seeing here is the natural evolution of the blogosphere. The old timers have become just like the MSM who they once criticized, and the smaller, non-commercial sites, are now the go-to blogs to learn about breaking news stories.

  11. Rachel says:

I agree, Joost. The only exception is Arianna Huffington and the Huffington Post. She’s already wealthy so she’s not worried about stepping on anyone’s toes. She covered Palin early on, too.

  12. People need to get off this stuff and talk about what is important in America . Flagpins for our troops, while they say the Pledge in Fallujah.

  13. Aunt Peg says:

Kid Funk – I wish we could take the high road but the reality is, the Republicans will bury Obama/Biden with the McCain/Palin ticket if they are successful and pick up the majority of conservative, white male voter and the Hillbots.

The only way to play the game successfully is by character assassination. If you doubt my words then I ask to you to think back to the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. Rove’s tactics got Bush elected twice against two very decent fellows.

  14. fran says:

Suddenly, the Hurricane Gustov story became the saving grace of the week for the repubs. A major distraction from the horrors of the republican party.
This teen pregnancy story will become a *no comment, it’s personal* item, right off the bat.
Will it raise an eyebrow of the Evangelicals, who tout the “just say no to sex program”, but be forgiven because it involves a pro life outcome?
McCain opposes pork barrel spending on things like unwed Mothers & babies.
Better invest in some boots Bristol– because you’ll be needing them to pull yourself up by your bootstraps ~ or you are on your own.

What next in this trailer park saga:
    • A shotgun wedding?
    • Her patriotic son, enlisted & soon to ship out to Iraq, announces he’s gay & therefore must be kicked out of the military.
    • Her youngest daughter breaks down sobbing on the stage of the RNC, feeling neglected.
She screams *I hate you Mommy*.
    • Palin shows up to the podium in a bikini, 7 inch stiletto high heels & a rhinestone tierra.
She talks about the American Dream in a squeaky Bimbo tone. Her speech is short & she spends an additional 8 minutes on stage doing the slow motion parade wave, all beauty queens must master.

  15. Ms. KLM4HILL says:

You liberal Obamafiles think you’re being so clever posting this filth about Sarah Palin. The reality is, you are making false allegations about a mother of five. This is libelous and I only wish Ms. Palin could bring legal action against every one of you. By now, everyone know Obama is a crack cocaine user and onetime dealer of illegal drugs. Yet, you continue to support him, even over Hillary Clinton. If you think the American voters will cast their vote for this nigger druggie, you have a lot to learn about this nation. I’ll stop by to tell you “I told you so, ” after the general election in November.

  16. Peace Nick says:

    Keep it up, Ms. KLM4HILL.

You’ve already been banned from the Democratic Underground for using such language.

Use the same language here and you’ll be gone by Tuesday.

    You racist bitch.

  17. Jenna Bush Stole My ID says:

Hey, did you know April Flowers, female porn star and adult model, grew up in Wasilla, Alaska?

Who knew little Wasilla was such a treasure trove of cheap women?

  18. Roger says:

“By now, everyone know Obama is a crack cocaine user and onetime dealer of illegal drugs. ”

Source for the allegation, Ms KLM4Hill? Oh, and it’s “Obamaphile”…your spelling makes it seem like you’re talking about file folders.

Wow–I almost missed your scintillating use of the N-word. I guess we know why you’re not voting for Obama (assuming you can read a ballot).

  19. Bill Hussein O'Reilly says:

You know, now that I look at Sarah, I think she’s the same girl who gave me a blowjob at a rest stop when I was up in Alaska a few years ago on a fishing trip.

She was good. Sharp teeth but very enthusiastic.

  20. Estacada says:

Palin is running out of daughters to blame things on.

I think the next one down the food chain is in elementary school. Too young to blame as she looks to family members to finger for her past dalliances.

Her eldest son is lucky he’s leaving for Iraq. If he’s on another continent, he will be safe from Palin’s overactive imagination.

  21. Travelingman says:

MsKLM4Hill…do you actually eat with that mouth? Do you speak to your children with that mouth? Do you think dropping the n-word here makes you seem any more credible? You are like the rest of the rethugs and they are worthy of your vile crap. Take it over there.

The truth is that yes Bristol is preggers at 16 and apparently that just say no campaign failed. Just like all of Bushies other policies. That is a debate that any dem is willing to have, anywhere, anyplace.

  22. Afrit007 says:

This is irrelevant. There is nothing to be gained by dragging the children of the candidate through the mudpits of politics.

First of all, it’s “Down’s Syndrome”, not Down Syndrome, and second, there is NO EVIDENCE that the child is the daughter’s second.

Shit-can the innuendo and rumor mongering, please.

  23. Randy Arroyo says:

Sorry, Afrit007 but it goes to character. Why do you think people are discussing it? Palin is a fucking hypocrite and it’s time the Dems play the same hardball we’ve had played against us for 20 years.

  24. fran says:

If the filth fits, Palin is gonna have to wear it. I was joking earlier about a shotgun wedding, but tonight’s news reveals the unwed teen WILL marry.
As for drug use– it is documented Bush was snorting the white stuff himself, and Clinton did not inhale ~ so apparently drug use is the new presidential standard, started in the late 20th Century.
Invoking the “N” word? I thought that was a 20th Century relic as well.

  25. Rastamick61 says:

    GILF SQUARED

  26. Rastamick61 says:

Yeah N word is 23 skidoos-ville. Wouldn’t it be Obamaphile as well, not -file ? unless it’s a sci fi tv show. Where’s all the bliss what that crank’s ignorance ? sounds like somebody needs an extra scoop of fiber in the old Paxiloats…

  27. Winnie H. says:

The person who dragged this young girl into a political firestorm is none other than her own mother.

This whole thing smells to high heaven, but even if you can believe the story as the Palins claim it, my question is this —

Why, in response to the internet rumors, would Ms. Palin “out” her daughter’s pregnancy to deflect attention? Why couldn’t Palin just prove that the infant is hers by trotting out the doctor who delivered the baby to vouch for her? Why not just release a copy of the birth records? Why not submit to a DNA test — anything, ANYTHING….. to protect her teenage daughter who is facing a very difficult time.

But no, she decides to cover herself by publicly revealing her unmarried, teenage daughter’s pregnancy instead — even though she kept her own alleged pregnancy a secret until she was 7 months along. It would have been very easy to keep the daughter’s pregnancy under wraps for the next two months by claiming “child of a candidate” privacy and removing her from the public eye. There were countless ways to squelch the internet rumors without involving the 17 year old child.

And one more point — if the daughter and the boyfriend have been planning all along to keep the baby and get married, then why weren’t they married as soon as she learned she was pregnant? Seems to me that’s the way most politically savvy fundies would have handled it — just have the kids get married as soon as the pregnancy test comes back positive. Then, at the VP selection event, they introduce the daughter and her husband and explain they are young and in love and having a baby.

This whole thing is so bizarre and who knows what the real truth is, but one thing is clear. Sarah Palin is a very selfish mother, and her children are to be pitied. Palin is not a bad mother because her teenage daughter got pregnant — she’s a bad mother because she didn’t do everything in her power to protect her own daughter. Instead, she threw her to the wolves in the media.

I have nothing but complete and utter disdain for this woman.

  28. feminazi says:

I think Winnie H. said it best for me. Palin decided to reveal her minor teenage daughter’s pregnancy to “to refute rumors spread by liberal bloggers that she’d faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her daughter’s earlier one.” These are Palin’s words. So she used her daughter, throwing her under the bus and into the adult world of politics. This is not what parents and more specifically, this is not what mothers do to their minor children. I am appalled.

  29. Brigadoon says:

MsKLM4Hill – You’re a real piece work spewing this racist garbage. But aren’t all the PUMAs closet racists? Were you wearing your Klan hat when you typed this filth about Barack Obama?

  30. Conejo1982 says:

Ms. KLM4HILL is obviously a PUMA.

Most of them are card carrying racists who despise Barack Obama because he’s African-American.
