RUMOR: Hillary “Out”; Gore-Bloomberg In?

The rumor mill continues to heat-up drive-time talk radio as inside the Beltway bloggers whisper about the Los Angeles Times sitting on an article, already written, edited and ready to drop that purports to expose the salacious details the sexual preferences of a presidential front runner. The players include a current U.S. Senator, Larry Flynt and his $1,000,000 offer for details of the sex life of a Congressperson with an antigay voting record.

The rumor claims the LA Times article “outs” Hillary Clinton as a lesbian, which will have a negative impact her candidacy. She will be replaced by an Al Gore-Michael Bloomberg ticket. A bipartisan ticket: Gore, a democrat and Bloomberg, a Republican, is seen as a brilliant calculation and unstoppable in 2008.

But if the rumor is true, what would make the Los Angeles Times sitting on the story? One theory is basic journalistic ethics is figuring heavily on the timing of such an explosive disclosure. The paper does not want to be accused of influencing the outcome of an election with this revelation.

The seeds of the rumor seem to have originated from the Village Voice’s own Michael Musto who wrote:

As I recently said on Monica Crowley’s radio show, whisper campaigns are claiming that Hillary Clinton is Gayle King-ing her aide de camp, the glamorous Huma Abedin, an Indian/Pakistani goddess from Kalamazoo, Michigan. In other words, Hillary may be putting Huma out there in the press and purposely making her more visible as a pre-emptive strike that amounts to her hiding in plain sight. This way, no Republican can later say, “Who is this gorgeous babe who spends so much intimate time with Hillary that the Observer called her Hill’s ‘body person’? Was Gennifer Flowers’ book right about Hillary’s sexual taste?

Stay tuned.

  1. DMason says:

Oh. My. God! Christopher, where in the world do you get this stuff? If this rumor turns out to be trus, the entire American political world will be rocked to its core.

  2. TOM339 says:

    I’ve heard this rumor too.

Now, speaking personally, if Hillary is a lesbian it would make me more, not less, inclined to vote for her. I like the idea of shaking things up and electing a gay person president and I’m straight (not narrow.)

But in Jesusland, such a disclosure would make these voters even more psycho than they already are, and no amount of tough talk on Iran by Hillary would let them support her.

  3. feminazi says:

Whatever the mode that motivates Gore to jump in the race works for me. We’re already well into November and I’m beginning to think it won’t happen. I know everyone says his campaign will be unconventional but his supporters are pulling their hair out at this point.

  4. BIG TITS says:

Hillary and Huma Abedin lesbian lovers?

Smokin.’ Who said politics is boring and for losers? This may turn out to be the hottest race yet.

  5. mirth says:

Honestly, I cannot conceive HRC as a lesbian. I don’t think she has that much soul.

Flint has been quoted saying that the story he’s holding involves a Republican senator.

But the fact remains that Gore has made no public statement yea or nay and, particularly after the full page NYT plea to him, this seems to say more than the occasional rumors that he will not run.

If he is holding back, that is if he plans to run but is holding off an announcement for a reason we don’t get, as nerve-rattling as that is, I also think it’s a brilliant political move.

Except for this: citizens are beginning to align with candidates as I have with Edwards, and I’m not sure at this point if I would switch that alliance.

Here is some poetic justice as balance to the last two prez elections: Gore/Edwards.

  6. FranIAm says:

    Holy Shite!

One of the reasons Gore may not run is because of HIllary.

If she is- pardon the pun – out(not that there’s anythign wrong with it, as the saying goes) – then he could be in.

    Very in.

    At least in my dreams.

I must cross post this juicy nugget!

  7. joost says:

ROFL! This is great political gossip!

The rumors about Hillary turning to women for emotional support at the height of the Monica Lewinsky witchhunt is legendary. It’s probably not all that uncommon when a spouse is married to an emotionally remote partner or in Hillary’s case, a cad like Bill.

But the LA Times and Larry Flynt angle is new and very intriguing.

  8. An Average Dunce says:

People always say politics are dull. What gets reported in the paper and on TV is boring. However, it’s the stuff not reported that makes for entertaining reading.

    Like this.

  9. Woodcliffe says:

I wondered why the word “out” was in quotation marks. I thought it might be a typo but as I read the article, it made perfect sense.

If the Los Angeles Times is sitting on such an article, this is akin to having your finger on a nuclear device. With a push of a button, they could upset an entire presidential election and effect the course and direction of this country for several years to come.

  10. Matteo says:

    And now there is this:

Clinton’s lead over Obama has shrunk by 11 points, 44 percent to 25 percent, in the CNN/Opinion Research poll.

A month ago, Clinton was on top by 30 points, 51 percent to 21 percent.

The drop comes after Clinton’s worst debate performance, where she came under fire for waffling on Gov. Spitzer’s plan to give licenses to illegals.

Clinton also got hammered by Obama and John Edwards, who charged she failed to deliver clear answers on Social Security, stalled the release of White House Records as first lady, and pushed for hostile action against Iran.

The performance also earned Clinton bad marks in the media, shattering some of the carefully cultivated air of inevitability fostered by her campaign.

  11. Dyke or not , couldn’t vote for her. Remember how dangerous closet cases can be. And i want to take this opportunity to apologize to readers for my enthusiasim about you know who..i did not mean to broadcast much like a troll. I ask your forgiveness and understanding. May we each vote our conscience and hope for the best for the sake of our Constitution and the “community ” that is supposed to be our country. I get very focused sometimes..thats all. so sorry if it became too much. I am sincere , thats for sure.

  12. Delia says:

I smell a media rumor gaining legs here. I just don’t think Hillary’s got the guts to step this far out of line with the Reich. I’m wondering if maybe this is just a Swiftboating that happens to be catching on in a big way with the left. If so, it would be the ultimate Rovian wet dream (ick). I’m skeptical.

  13. JollyRoger says:

You know how I feel about a frigging hypocrite. If Hill (of the “no marriage for gays” camp) is munching the carpet, by all means make it public knowledge, the sooner the better. Those who persecute American citizens for political points have no business getting elected to any public office.

  14. Massagatto says:

Who Senator Clinton beds is irrelevant.

The story worthy of mention is how the New York Democrat allegedly committed felonies to get elected and assisted her husband in defrauding a major donor.

Business mogul Peter Franklin Paul claims former President Clinton destroyed his entertainment company – Stan Lee Media – to get out of a $17 million deal in which he promised to promote the firm in exchange for stock, cash options and massive contributions to his wife’s 2000 campaign. Paul contends he was directed by the Clintons and Democratic Party leaders to foot the bill for a lavish Hollywood gala and fundraiser prior to the 2000 election that eventually cost him nearly $2 million.

Again, allegedly Mrs. Clinton solicited superstar singer, Cher, to sing to an audience of the Democratic Party’s top leaders and A-list entertainers including Brad Pitt, John Travolta, and Whoopi Goldberg. All were contributors to Hillary Clinton’s first Senate campaign.

Federal campaign law forbids possible candidates from soliciting the services of entertainers for the purpose of fundraising. In 2000, there was scant coverage of this story by the media. The media prefers to bow down before power out of fear of losing access.

  15. Harry says:

Massagato – I remember Tweety covering this story but as you say, it didn’t have much traction. I guess GE thought it was too hot.

  16. ChiTOM says:

The irony is rich and not lost on me.

A lethal combination of a scandal-ridden, lame-duck president, the wife he’d betrayed, and his designated successor, all worked to sap Gore’s 2000 campaign, as the bond between the Clintons and the Gores dissolved into distrust, anger, and resentment.

Fast forward to 2007 and rumors of a secret life involving the Democratic front runner for president, if made public would potentially hand Al Gore the keys to the White House.

Politics really is a merry-go-round for fools.

  17. omfg i am watching the Impeachmet resolution on the floor of the house by Kucinich and there are more Republicans voting NOT to table than there are Dems.

    wtf !

  18. Lil' Mama says:

I know for a fact, what joost said is true.

When my sister went through a bad divorce, she had a relationship with a woman she met at her support group. I think it went on for a year. Like the song says, “Love the one you’re with!”

  19. signaveritae says:

    Hillary is a scumball

  20. VicoDANIEL says:

This is precisely why I detest the Democrats running for president.

Sen. Hillary Clinton, who may or may not be involved in a lesbian relationship, said during the LOGO debate that she not only opposes gay marriage but she is opposed to the elimination of DOMA.

Clinton gave her reason as a “personal position,” and refused to elaborate. What does this mean? Maybe at her core, she sees gay relationships as inferior? Lesser, somehow? Again, no one knows.

But she did say she is a “very strong supporter of letting the states maintain their jurisdiction over marriage.” States rights? Is she kidding? Southern states would like to burn queers at the stake and piss on their corpses. I know. I used to live in South Carolina.

Back to DOMA. Why won’t Hillary just say it was a mistake? But she won’t. Instead, she allowed that she would repeal Section 3 of DOMA, which stands in the way of the extension of benefits to people in same sex relationships. It’s like her Iraq war vote. She just can’t admit it was wrong.

  21. Harry says:

Hey Vicooooooooo! Where have you been hiding? This has sure turned into a lively thread.

  22. Sandy A. says:

So when does the Los Angeles Times plan to publish the letter? After the damned election and HRC is already sworn in as president? Am I missing something but wouldn’t that cause a far bigger fracas than publishing the letter a year before voters go to the polls?

  23. Bagley says:

    “..Bloomberg, a Republican….”

Not quite. Bloomberg was a lifetime Democrat who switched to Republican to run for (and win) New York’s Mayor-ship. Since then, Bloomberg has switched to being an Independent.

Al Gore will not run: he has a good gig going and if he runs he has to defend, otherwise un-defensible, positions on Global warming.

  24. mbmdl says:

More Clinton scandals. I don’t know how many more Clinton scandals I can take after 8 years of Bill’s roving hands. You know Hillary must have a truckload of her own to bring to the Oval Office.

  25. dad2059 says:

An attempt to torpedo Shillary in Fundyland?

Maybe. It is intriguing. But like Mirth said, I don’t think she has the soul either. Shillary’s an empty suit. But just the rumor of gay life-style in the United Redstates of America is death itself.

Gore’s not going to run, but Bloomberg is a definite possibility.

  26. Larry says:

If this is true, the media will portray her as a poor victim and anoint her anyway.

  27. Randy Arroyo says:

Funny thing is, I can kinda’ see Hillary as LESBIAN.

  28. Mauigirl says:

I don’t think it’s true. I think it more likely to be a Swift Boating thing as someone else mentioned.

I do highly disagree with her position on gay marriage, and if it did turn out she were lesbian or bi, I would be extremely disgusted with her hypocrisy in upholding DOMA. I hope for all of our sakes it isn’t true.

  29. CaroleK says:

    Interesting conjecture.

    Driving me bananas…

  31. nytexan says:

    Once again another great post!!

I hope you keep up on this one. It would be great to have Hillary outed & shown to the world the liar that she is.

The LA Times need to publish their article before the Iowa caucus so Gore can jump in.

  32. bruce says:

I suspected this back in Bill’s days as Prez. Just look at her, she’s butch as hell, and obviously wasn’t satisfying William Jefferson. Obviously! LMAO

It’s long been said that Hillary married Bill as a pathway to get power more than any other reason, knowing full well he was, well, kinda slutty! Not like he ever really hid it.

So now, you gotta figure, she’s getting her’s back, from this Muslim chick, who will, you know, write a book, do the talk-show circuit, then start her own (look out Tyra!!), becoming a superstar in the process.

She *is* hot, smart, etc. (I’d give it to her.)

Hillary is gonna get her karmic reward!

  33. bruce says:

    oh i forgot to mention:

i hope he can talk Dr. Paul into being a running mate, but then Paul is gonna be his competitor… maybe the first election EVER being the choice of “better of two goods”

boy wouldn’t that be a breath of fresh air in the foul stench of 2007 America????????

    please let it be.

  34. 22rants says:

The rumors regarding Hillary’s sexual orientation is nothing new. But they are ridiculous. Hillary Clinton has always been a devoted wife to her husband through thick and thin. When Bill dropped a piece of himself on Monica’s dress, Hillary remained by his side. Because she has a conviction that informs her to forgive and forget. It seems to me that Hillary Clinton is being picked on because she is a woman, and that not as many females hold as much power as she does. On the other hand, if Hillary Clinton is a lesbian, or a bisexual, then it is her personal business, and not the business of other people, especially that of voters who decide which candidate should take over the White House and bloggers who spread what appears to be garbage like this. Grow up, boys and girls. Life is too short to be throwing lies out the bedroom window. Privacy prevails when it comes to trash like this.
