I am a proud, openly gay man, and former lifelong Democrat who left the party in response to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Harry Reid’s failure to stand up to George Bush and bring the Iraq war to a close.
I am now a registered Independent.
I began blogging in response the destructive policies of the Bush administration. Their blatant contempt for the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights was my call to action.
During the 2000 presidential campaign, George Bush said he was ”a uniter, not a divider.” After 5 activist, banana Republicans on the Supreme Court decided the election, the American people (and the world) realized Mr. Bush was no uniter. In fact, dividing the American people is the source of his strength – it appeals to the very worst instincts of prejudice and privilege.
Blogging is the most powerful information currency of the 21st century and as a result, “the blogs” have become a dominant force in our political process. No wonder the braindead mainstream media, as well as many conservative lawmakers, try to marginalize us. They realize that contained within our power is their own irrelevance.
I am committed to helping defeat Republicans and getting liberals and progressives elected to local, state and national office.
I am happily “married” to my same-sex spouse of 15 years. We have one dog, Ginger. We reside in beautiful Upstate New York.

72 and trying not to go stark raving insane because of the tons of crap that the crafty sob from bleeping Texas has foisted on MY AMERICA. At least here in Wisconsin I am happy to be represented by Feingold and Baldwin. Crazy fools here have managed to put their stinking ’save marriage’ bill on the agenda. I am as straight but I am not afraid of losing the Republic if gays get married.
I won’t support the Democratic Party but am certainly supporting individuals.
There are too many Bush boot-lickers in the Democratic party.

I have come to conclusion that being a moveon.org liberal must kill brain cells. I have never read such sniffling, cry baby, panty waste on a website in my entire life. I am no conservative but if this website is the direction of the democratic party then, I am out here.

Your header is beautiful. In fact, you inspired me to re-read the Constitution.
I searched several times and found nothing on privacy, abortion, or sodomy. Nor does the Constitution acknowledge any human rights terrorists have while held during a time of war.
I read the 2nd Amendment, and it specifically referred to “the right of the people.”
I found nothing on “separation of Church and state.”
I read the 1st Amendment, and it does forbid religion on public property, prayer in public schools, or private Bible meetings in school grounds.
While you and other “progressives” claim to respect and honor the Constitution, your actions over the last 40 years appear to say otherwise.

I just read your remarks about Austin, Texas. Sorry you did not enjoy yourself more. Depending on the time of year there are many activities.
You visited the Capitol, but did you see the Laguana Gloria Museum, or Elizabeth Ney Museum, the Bob Bullock Museum, the O’Henry Museum, the Blanton Museum or the LBJ Museum?
If that is not to your taste, did you go see any of the University of Texas. The Architecture is unique and varied as the building phases span almost 100 years of construction with lots of nooks, crannies and hidden gems. The view from the top of the U.T. Tower is incredible. Did you attend any of the sporting events that occur every weekend there during the regular school year?
Not your taste, how about music. Did you venture out of the “touristy” 6th street area to visit any of the live music venues all around the city. From boot scooting (my personal favorite) at the broken spoke to the move adult dancing on 4th in the warehouse district. Art’z Rib house most likely had a great local band as did the Saxon Pub. These venues are unique and have a whole history that makes them fun and interesting.
As far as food. Did you not go and get some Bar-B-Que. The Salt Lick, The Pit on Burent, Smoke E Joe’s, Rudy’s (kind of a chain, but good sauce), Coopers in Round Rock, Kurene’s in Lockhart, and way to many more to list.
Another fun trip can be a simple visit to the whole foods “mothership”. The store is a destination in itself, and on a Summer Day, the people watching is some of the best I have ever witnessed.
For shopping did you venture to South Congress? There is a monthly “First Thursday” there that is fun if you are with that special someone. The food is good and the shops stay open late. There is live music on the street and again the people watching is first rate.
I do wish your experience had been better. It might have been better had you just asked one of the locals. Better luck next time.

As I am new to the site I wish to respond to the unhonorable John Adams. I guess when you are losing the debate, and when all else fails, resort to name calling right? We get plenty of tools like you in our Phoenix fishwrap’s daily threads. I think the old issue of Obama being a citizen or not is long past dead, and only important to you and a few neocons. At any rate you can think about it for the next eight years (he’s getting re-elected you know)while Obama goes about the job of trying to fix all your screw ups. Your arguement about not knowing what the constitution is, or what it stands for would hold a lot more weight if your “messiah” GW wasn’t under the microscope for possible violations of the constitution. Putting up the defense that the other side doesn’t understand the constitution doesn’t make it any less illegal for you to break it.
I’ll give you a C- for having the nads to come on here and show everyone how ignorant you are, but that’s about it. Popped over from IceStationTango. Jay’s on “hiatus” and wanted IST to stay static for a while. Jay is a good friend (how many times have you mailed a fellow blogger books that you thought he’d enjoy?) and I often teased him that we thought so much alike that I was beginning to think he was a long-lost son or something. Except he’s straight (I don’t hold that against him) and I’m gay. Maybe it’s because we’re both Leos (1 day/many years apart). He’ll be missed.

I am very conservative and I have no problem with Gay’s , Lesbians or anyone pursuing happiness. I, however, do not feel that I should in some way subsidize anyone’s happiness with my hard earned tax money. Nobody is entitled to ANYTHING I have worked for.
Everyone points to the greed of the corporations. Last I knew, they weren’t in the business to make jobs, they were in the business to make money. Do you think Henry Ford was so concerned about his fellow man, that he thought to himself, “I think I’ll create a bunch of jobs and hopefully we’ll make something productive”. He wanted to better himself and developed a way to do it.
We’re all self centered. You people don’t know me and my demise wouldn’t cause you to shed a tear. If it were you against me in competition for a job, you’d be rooting for you and I’d be rooting for me. It’s human nature. It wouldn’t be greedy. And how many Coke® cans would have to explode and kill people before we all stop buying them? Coke® doesn’t make money by making exploding cans, they want to make a product that you and I want to buy. The market will take care of itself.
