Ted Nugent Holds a Firearm Up While Pretending to be Rocker

In light of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre when a lone gunman killed 20 children as they sat in their classroom, the Discovery Channel decided to pull the plug on the lowly viewed Ted Nugent reality series Ted Nugent’s Gun Country.

You may recall, Nugent supported Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential campaign. He was also interviewed by law enforcement for making what was seen as threatening comments about President Obama.

In addition to cancelling its popular “American Guns” reality show, The Discovery Channel confirmed to Raw Story on Tuesday that firearms enthusiast Ted Nugent will also not be returning to the channel in any form or fashion.

Speaking to Raw Story in remarks specified as “not for attribution,” a spokesperson admitted that “Ted Nugent’s Gun Country” didn’t do very well when it aired in October, even with fellow firearms fashionistas. Nielsen Ratings placed the viewership at about 864,000 people in all. But the network’s decision is not just about the numbers.

After Friday’s devastating massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, the spokesperson said that Nugent would definitely not be returning to the Discovery Channel.

  1. Joe in Colorado says:

Ted Nugent is a vile human being. I saw him once on Piers Morgan and he was a moron.

  2. The Real Adam says:

Guns are, for the first time in recent memory, not so sexy.

Dick’s Sporting Goods has stopped selling certain rifles in their stores in light of the Sandy Hook school massacre. I hope Wal Mart follows their lead.

  3. Matteo says:

When the beloved bottom line is impaired, you know something is underway.

    Gun Industry Recoils from Horror

The U.S. gun industry faced a new set of challenges to its financial and political power Tuesday as more of its Washington allies called for gun control and a major investor sought to get out of the firearms business entirely.

  4. feminazi says:

I’ve always held that men who cherish guns and pick-up trucks with oversized wheels are trying to make-up for certain physical shortcomings. Ted Nugent meets the definition. Kudos to Discovery for terminating their relationship with him.

  5. Brigadoon says:

Ted Nugent is a shitty guitar player and a terrible singer. He hardly embodies the spirit of rock and roll music. He reminds me of roadhouse performers you encounter in the dives that line the U.S. Interstates. His nutty remarks about going to prison if Obama wins reelection proves he’s a man with serious mental health issues. Ted Nugent needs to crawl back under a rock.

  6. Anthony says:

Guns are not the problem, morals and meds are.

  7. Tena says:

    Who is Ted Nugent?

  8. Eric Equality Kuntz says:

Guns are not the problem, morals and meds are.

    Morals and meds? Please elaborate.

What morals, Anthony? You mean being raised by a mother who was a prepper and taught her son the world was coming to an end so she needed to stockpile firearms in order to survive?

What meds, Anthony? Adam Lanza was afflicted with Asberger Syndrome. How do you know he wasn’t being treated for depressive and/or anxiety disorders? None of this information has been made public.

  9. ChiTOM says:

    ‘Who is Ted Nugent?”

Tena – He’s a washed up rocker from the 1970’s. He’s a gun nut, and recently known for making outlandish comments about the president. Some so serious he was paid a visit by the FBI.

  10. Tiny Dancer says:

It all comes down to advertising dollars. Discovery Channel saw the writing on the wall and I think they preemptively decided to pull the show before viewers started a writing campaign to boycott all of the Discovery Channel programs.

  11. Ahab says:

I couldn’t be happier. Nugent is an unsavory man who has received FAR more publicity than he deserves.

  12. Randy Arroyo says:

Ted Nugent is a creep. He thinks he’s Charlton Heston when in fact, he’s Tiny Tim.

  13. Zarathustra says:

Dear Mr. Nugent. please, Jam the end of your rifle up your ass and pull the trigger.

  14. Anthony says:

Well Eric, along with all that info is available of a lot of actual facts that the TV don’t tell you about. As for the meds they use the same thing on that type of Autism and I’ve seen the results. I seriously doubt 3 firearms would make one a perpper for the end of days, but agreed, the young man’s metal condition along with meds and a sharp object becomes a weapon. Just for the record, she was never a teacher at the school either.

  15. fran says:

Why/how the Discovery channel ever thought Nugent was worthwhile is the bigger question?
Kudos (I guess) for them getting rid of him, but WTF for ever going there in the first place!

  16. Greg Equality Lengkong says:

Ted Nugent is a shameless self promoter. His albums don’t sell and his arena days are behind him.
