Despite lacing his campaign speeches with the occasional Spanish word or phrase, it looks like Romney’s hopes of winning support among Hispanics is muerto.
According to the latest NBC News/WSJ/Telemundo poll, President Obama leads Mitt Romney among Hispanic voters by staggering 50 points, 70% to 20%.
“It appears that Romney’s comments that 47% of Americans are dependent on government took a toll on his standing with Hispanics. Romney’s favorability score has cratered with the group, with his negatives hitting an all-time high. Fifty-three percent now say they have a negative impression of Romney and just 23% say they have a positive one. That 30-point difference is 17 points worse than in August.”
The 2010 U.S. Census reports Hispanics represent 16.7% of America’s population and is the fastest growing minority group.
