Legendary rock icon and New Jersey native, Bruce Springsteen, released a statement on his website endorsing a same-sex marriage bill.
“Like many of you who live in New Jersey, I’ve been following the progress of the marriage-equality legislation currently being considered in Trenton. I’ve long believed in and have always spoken out for the rights of same sex couples and fully agree with Governor Corzine when he writes that ‘The marriage-equality issue should be recognized for what it truly is — a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law.’”
On Monday, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the marriage bill by a 7-to-6 vote. The legislation could move to the a full Senate hearing later this week. Thanks for the support, Bruce. You rock!

My daughter adores Bruce Springsteen. He speaks for her generation where equality for gays and lesbians are simply a given.
Bruce has always been in a league of his own. A great rocker and a great voice for equality.
Even if the marriage equality bill clears the New Jersey legislature, Gov. Krispie Kreme will veto is.
Krispie Kreme is a political coward and no friend to the gay community. His eyes are on higher office in the coming years and he doesn’t want to be known as the governor who signed into law a marriage equality bill.
I wonder if Springsteen would consider running for political office? I can see him running for New Jersey governor and then senator. He’s a truly decent man and has much to offer the electorate.
Insouciant,
Springsteen is no less qualified for political office than Rep. Mary Bono Mack.
The reason she’s a member of the US Congress is her late husband, Sonny Bono, died in a skiing accident and she took over his seat. Have you heard Mary Bono Mack speak? Her background as a restaurant hostess is on display for everyone to hear.
Mary Bono Mack was married to Sonny Bono? How did I miss this?
Springsteen is awesome.
Love Springsteen. Thanks for the support, Bruce!
Wow! And I just thought Bruce was a consume rock and roller? He also supports LGBT equality and isn’t afraid to take it to the people in New Jersey and beyond. What a great guy.
Springsteen may be a rock legend, famous around the planet, with millions in the bank but, erase the stardom and he’s still a working class guy from Asbury Park.
Blue collar values are in his DNA. His music reflects this single truth.
Maybe Springsteen can talk some sense into Gov. Krispie Kreme? You know he’s just waiting to veto any marriage equality bill. He’s no fan of the gays.
