BOMBSHELL: Anti-Prop 8 Solicitor, Ted Olson, is Prepping Paul Ryan

Monday, September 17, 2012

Former Solicitor General Ted Olson Opposes Prop 8

Politics really do make for strange bedfellows.

Ted Olson, the former Solicitor General, the man who argued Bush v. Gore before the Supreme Court on behalf of the 43rd president, is prepping Paul Ryan for his debate with Vice President Joe Biden.

Olson is known for his work opposing California’s viciously homophobic Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state, work Olson called,”the highlight of my life.” He also defended President Ronald Reagan during the Iran-Contra scandal, and at one point represented convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard.

Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck said of the prep relationship:

“Joe Biden has been in elected office for more than 40 years. There are few people in politics with more experience debating the issues than Joe Biden, so we are taking this process seriously. Mr. Olson is one of the most skilled, intelligent, and successful litigators in America, just the kind of opponent needed to prepare the Congressman for Mr. Biden.”

Sounds to me like Paul Ryan is worried about his debate with Vice President Biden.

  1. Joe in Colorado says:

Just proves lawyers are whores. Dangle the correct amount of money in front of them and they will do anything. While I appreciate Olson’s work on Prop 8′s repeal, this proves he can’t be trusted.

  2. retahyajyajav says:

I don’t care if Paul Ryan is prepped by Ted Olson, Jesus Christ, Winston Churchill and Patton, the guy is an Ayn Rand-style ideologue with limited intellectual capacity who Vice President Joe Biden will wipe-up the floor with in the first 15 minutes. I just hope if Ryan asks Biden “May I call you Joe?”, a la, Sarah Palin, Biden politely says, “No, but you can call me Vice President Biden.”

  3. Unconditional1 says:

This may be an entertaining debate and trouncing! I will put my money on the Chi-Town O’Bammer and his tag-team partner, Smokin Joe Biden! KO in the first round!!

  4. Unconditional1 says:

I meant to write: “This may be…debate and (election) trouncing!”

  5. Unconditional1 says:

I can hear the announcer calling the blow-by-blow right now…”Huge uppercut to the jaw of R&R!!! “Down go Romney! Down go Ryan! Standing eight count…!! Ref waves both hands…! It’s over in the first round!!!

  6. Bill Hussein O'Reilly says:

Good luck, Ted. Ryan is a dunce. You’d have better results with your dead wife.

  7. Marcus Ybanez says:

I don’t think a few weeks of debate prep is any match for 40 years in public office.

Ryan will look like an insolent teenager up there trying to hold his own against Biden. This debate is really the “must see television event” of the fall season. Personally, I can’t wait.

  8. DMason says:

The best advice Olson could give Ryan is shut up. He has a horrible tendency to raise his voice and become desperate and adolescent when he is pushed on an issue. Plus, Ryan comes across cold and uncaring.

  9. Eric Equality Kuntz says:

Paul Ryan’s raison d’être is to dismantle Medicare and make it a voucher and turn Social Security into a stock market index.

Ted Olson may prep Ryan until he’s blue in the face but he can’t change Ryan’s values. Ryan’s values are not in step with the vast, majority of Americans. Especially, retirees and the disabled.

  10. Randy Arroyo says:

I’ve always been extremely suspicious of Ted Olson.

  11. Adirondacky says:

Olson has very little to work with in Paul Ryan.

  12. fran says:

All Biden has to say is “we’re not them”. Game over.

We all know Romney is an elite 1%er & Ryan is his equally offensive sidekick.

Hypocrite Romney just shot himself in the foot again in the newly released tape where he accuses 47% of US citizens of being non tax paying freeloaders.
That’s rich- coming from the master of tax evasion by using foreign accounts, because although he has the money, he is not willing to pay his fair share.

  13. Peace Nick says:

Ryan’s problem in the debate is going to be defending his commitment to dismantle Social Security.

Since he attended university on the Social Security left to him by his deceased father, he’s instantly contradicting his own values and beliefs. He’s a hypocrite and rest assured Joe Biden, who is a savvy debater, will surely bring this up.
