Romney: “No One’s Ever Asked To See My Birth Certificate”

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Falling farther behind in the all-important swing states, presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, waded into into the bizarre, murky waters of the birther conspiracy movement at a campaign stop in Michigan, telling an adoring crowd of loyalists:

“I was born in Hartford Hospital. No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this was the place we were born and raised.”

In an effort to silence the birther loons, President Obama released a long-form birth certification in the spring of 2011, showing he was born in Honolulu, HI, on August 4, 1961. Contemporaneously published newspaper announcements also noted the birth in the Aloha State. Only “natural born” citizens of the United States are eligible to be president.

  1. Joe in Colorado says:

Romney claimed he wanted to discuss issues? I thought Romney begged the Obama campaign to stop asking about his tax returns and off-shore tax accounts? I guess the polls showing Romney falling farther and father behind in the all important swing states means all Romney has left in the final days of the campaign is to toss a bone to the birther movement and claim it was a joke. What a vile, pathetic SOB.

  2. Mets Fan says:

Release your tax returns, Mitt. All of them. Stop delaying.

The American people have a right to know how many millions you and Ann have hidden in tax havens in the Cayman Islands, the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland. You want to be president? Then stop hiding the facts about your finances.

  3. Zarathustra says:

I keep it in my Bank Vault in the Cayman Islands

  4. feminazi says:

The only logical explanation for Romney’s refusal to release his tax returns to scrutiny is, he and Ann circumvented U.S. tax code and upon closer examination would reveal the Romneys owe back taxes to the IRS.

  5. Stephen Iversonn says:

Christopher is correct. Here’s why Romney was reduced to playing the Birther card.

The latest Quinnipiac/New York Times/CBS News polls of likely voters finds President Obama leading Mitt Romney in three, crucial swing states:

    Florida: Obama 49%, Romney 46%
    Ohio: Obama 50%, Romney 44%
    Wisconsin: Obama 49%, Romney 47%

  6. The Real Adam says:

Mittens keeps saying he wants to discuss the issues, mainly the economy and unemployment?

I guess we now know he’s full of shit and his words aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on. Mittens lack of character is stunning. Even Sen. John McCain — who I am no fan of, didn’t play to the most extreme elements of the Republican party.

  7. Rachel says:

The Romney supporters should be very worried. The only people laughing at his pathetic “joke” is Donald Trump and Sheriff Arpaio. Romney should take his hate campaign back to Michigan and park the bus once and for all. He’s revealed himself to be nothing more than human garbage.

  8. Brigadoon says:

People just don’t like Mitt Romney. He’s aloof and not natural around people. Especially middle class, working and poor people. Some say Romney “looks like a president” but I don’t understand this remark. What does a president look like? Bill Clinton? The Shrub? Barack Obama? To me, Romney looks like any middle manager in any U.S. corporation in any American city. This attempt at humor by Romney just highlights his awkwardness. Romney is a terrible candidate.

  9. TM Sphere says:

The only logical explanation for Romney’s refusal to release his tax returns to scrutiny is, he and Ann circumvented U.S. tax code and upon closer examination would reveal the Romneys owe back taxes to the IRS.

Circumvented US tax code is a polite way to say the Romneys cheated on their taxes. :-)

  10. Dis Gusted says:

Romney = voter fraud. pension theft, and tax evasion

    not presidential material

  11. Lowell says:

This is a distraction ploy. Mittens raises the “birth” issue as a joke believing that no one will follow through and look for his birth certificate.

And he’s got good reason for doing such a thing. After many minutes of dedicated research I have uncovered the fact that Mitt is not Mitt at all, but Anton Kurasova, a Soviet/Mormon sleeper spy. He was not born in Detroit but in Russia. The facts are all there for anyone to see.

    Check it out here: http://mythandhope.blogspot.com/2012/08/anton-rusakova-aka-anton-romanokov-aka.html

I mean, really! Talk about a birther story!

  12. ajihani says:

Listen, scumbag Romney knew exactly what he was saying. It was a calculated comment intended to revisit the Birther conspiracy and drape President Obama as “other.” Mitt can go fuck himself.

  13. Peace Nick says:

I think at this point in the campaign, Mitt Romney just doesn’t care anymore.

The internals look terrible for him in Colorado, Ohio, Minnesota, even Virginia. After blowing through an estimated $200 million and unemployment stubbornly high, one would think Romney should be far ahead but, this just isn’t the case.

  14. Harry says:

What’s next from this idiot? A rape joke? I think Romney needs to STFU for his own good.

  15. Shorter Mitt Romney: “I’m white”

  16. Seabec says:

Personally, I can’t wait for the 2012 election to be over, Obama to begin his second term and Romney to just disappear. He’s even more unlikable than was George W. Bush.
