In the wake of Rep. Todd Akin’s (R-MO) appalling remarks about “legitimate rape” Mike Huckabee used his syndicated, rightwing radio program Monday to give the embattled candidate a safe venue to express remorse and us that while rapes are “horrible tragedies,” the crimes had produced many admirable human beings.
A longtime supporter of Todd Akin, Huckabee reeled off a litany of accomplished Americans born of rape:
“Ethel Waters, for example, was the result of a forcible rape. I used to work for James Robison back in the 1970s, he leads a large Christian organization. He was the result of a forcible rape. And so I know it happens, [but] life has come and sometimes, you know, those people are able to do extraordinary things.”
Gee, thanks Mike. I don’t know what all the hoopla is about. I guess rape isn’t so bad after all.
Huckabee is every bit as disgusting as Todd Akin. With this analysis, Huckabee threw every victim of rape that took place throughout all of history under the bus. Rape is good, damn it and women should welcome it. Fuck you, Huckabee.

Remember, Rep. Paul Ryan, Romney’s running mate, co-sponsored the personhood bill which tried to define “life” as the “moment of conception.” The bill failed but had it passed, any abortion would amount to murder and the health provider could be prosecuted with First Degree murder.

The vast majority of people in Missouri who think Akin is 100% correct and they plan to vote for him in November. Missouri is more radically flat earth than Texas, Utah or South Carolina. As for Mike Huckabee, I hope he chokes on a Twinkie.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Mike Huckabee a Baptist minister? Where is his humanity? Did he forget his Theology college courses? I guess he’s put political ideology over humanity.

There is no excuse, rescinding, explaining, justification for this mindset.
I seriously wonder what Akin’s “legitimate rape” history is. … is he a rapist or has he been raped?
Because somehow, he is able to justify some rape as being “OK”.
Like back in the dark days when a woman was raped, and would be asked in court what SHE was wearing, or what SHE did to provoke sexual assault. Traumatizing the victim again– and placing the blame on the person who was assaulted– so much so, many rapes STILL to this day go unreported, because victims can’t handle additional trauma.
As for Huckabee’s ” forcible rape success stories”…. what a sick bastard.

Hey, it’s Missouri. Sorry to offend anyone here who hails from the Show me State, but I grew near Hannibal, Mo. Mark Twain Country. The rednecks in that state make Alabama rednecks look like boy scouts. Lots of racism, hate, small mindedness. But hey, that’s where Rush Limpballs is from, so that says a lot right there!
Have you ever driven through St. Joseph, MO? The main freeway passes through the center of St. Joseph. On each side of the road is a church with a sign out front admonishing women of ending their pregnancy. In between each church is an adult book store or titty palace.
