Ann Romney, Seen on the Left, in the Center, Says No More Tax Returns

In an interview set to air this Thursday on NBC’s Rock Center, correspondent Natalie Morales was granted an exclusive interview with Ann Romney, wife of presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney.

The criticism that plagued the Romneys during the 2008 campaign has continued unabashed, particularly in regards to their reported $250 million fortune and the issue of their secretive tax returns.

When pressed by Morales, Ann Romney dug her feet in:

“We have been very transparent to what’s legally required of us. There’s going to be no more tax releases given.”

Mrs. Romney said if they release any more information:

“It will only give them more ammunition.”

She won’t be the next First Lady because Mitt won’t unseat President Obama.

  2. Bruce says:

This figures coming from the Romney’s. I for one take it that they have a lot to hide, probably criminal behavior. What I would like to see as a republican taxpayer is, what is the actual, the real effect of the tax policy for the rich, wealthy and elite of this country. We all know the rules are different but without seeing the net effect, talking about tax rates or saying “I paid a lot of money doesn’t fly for working families. The tax code doesn’t say “oh just pay what you feel is ‘a lot of money’ “. I want to see for myself, how much money he has and where he made it and also how much taxes has he paid. From that I can determine for myself the effective rate and compare it to Americans.

Secondly by Romney or his wife claiming that American needs a corporate owner or a horse owner they are both wrong and misguided. America is more like a huge family with many children all with different needs and problems. With that said, a average mother or father or grandparents of any normal family are more qualified to be the President of the USA than Romney who only understands 1% of America.

Thirdly, why was there no outrage at Romney’s negative comment against Chicago, a great and large American City filled with great Americans many of them are heroes in our military present and past. Who is Romney to talk down to Chicago. Plus the last I heard he’s still has not denounced Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump who still deny that Obama is from Chicago but from Kenya. Which is it, Chicago or Kenya? Where should he go back to as Romney suggests?

  3. Mets Fan says:

Oh Ann. You must think us common folk are awfully dumb.

You’re husband is worth $250 million and has money stashed in off-shore tax havens like the Cayman Islands and Switzerland and you think requests for detailed tax records is just an effort to find info to use as ammo against Mitt and you?

  4. Rachel says:

If there’s nothing to hide release the past five years of tax returns. Just five years. If the Romneys refuse, then I agree with Bruce that the couple is hiding something that has grave legal implications.

  5. Harry says:

Queen Ann hast Spoketh and We’re not to Question the Queen or Risk a Trip to the Gallows!

  6. mommom says:

I had to give 10 years of returns to work in a casino-you would think POTUS would be a job with more requirements than dealing blackjack has.

  7. Randy Arroyo says:

Mitt and Ann Romney can keep their off-shore tax havens private because at the end of the day, it won’t change a thing. President Obama will be reelected and the Romneys — Mitt and Ann, can go back to their swell life with horses and 6 homes.

  8. VicoDANIEL says:

If you deconstruct Ann Romney’s words, it’s a study in self-incrimination.

Consider? How can she say “no more tax returns for you people” and “we’ve got nothing to hide” in the same breath but then blow a hole in her own statement with “they’ll just use it against us”?

If your hands are clean you have clean hands and you’re not afraid to show them. Of course, the Romneys are hiding vast sums in the Cayman Islands, and Switzerland. Of course, Mitt Romney lied to the SEC about the year he stopped working for, and receiving a salary from, Bain Capital.

Personally, I am offended he sends his wife out — who is suffering from MS, to do Mitt’s dirty PR work for him. It’s disgusting.

  9. feminazi says:

The Romneys have chosen the path of what is belongs to us is ours, not yours, and this includes our federal tax returns. While this is a valid argument to take for regular people, the Romneys are not just a couple down the block. They’re running for president and First Lady and they’re worth $250 million at least. Throw in secret IRAs, blind trusts and foreign offshore tax accounts and the voters want to know who these people are. Go ahead, Ann. Keep your tax returns held close but the price you will pay is rejection from the voters. Don’t measure the new curtains for the White House quite yet.

  10. The Real Adam says:

    Speaking of Queen Ann Romney.

Now that she’s used her horse, Rafalca, to treat her MS and compete in the Olympics, Ann plans to sell Rafalca to a Japanese horse meat plant and replace her with a younger colt. If this is true then I hope Ann’s MS worsens and she’s relegated to a wheel chair. The bitch.

  11. Montana says:

Didn’t you think it was rich hearing Mrs. Romney crying about that her husband is being attacked personally when her husband and his Bain money had just finished carpet bombing all other potential GOP presidential candidates with personal attacks….too funny!

  12. joost says:

Annie is a rich, entitled bitch and she’s already measuring the Oval Office and Family Quarters for new carpets and drapes. This is a wildly ambitious woman. She make Eva Peron look like a nun by comparison.

  13. nonnie9999 says:

i didn’t see the whole interview, but one part that i did see hit a sour note with me. she insisted that she and mittsie are such wonderful people, golden even, because they give 10% of their income to charity. of course, that’s what they tithe to the mormon church. that says to me that they give to no charity other than their cult…oops, i mean, church. the woman has ms, and she doesn’t give any money for research? :o i read the other day that the mormon church uses most of the money they get for real estate, not to feed the poor or help the needy. golden, indeed. it’s like when barbara bush donated to supposedly help katrina victims but only gave money that was directed to her son’s company.

  14. Tena says:

The strange thing about this woman is, she does not hail from means. In fact, her parents and her grandparents were poor. I would think and I’m obviously wrong, that coming from such a modest background, Ann Romney might be a bit more humble today now that she married a man worth $190-to-$250 million.

  15. Insouciant says:

Ann Romney is the same woman who said Seamus loved being strapped to the roof of the family station wagon. She clearly has a delusional view of reality which isn’t remotely based in reality.

I have no doubt, when she looks in the mirror and catches her reflection, she sees herself (and Mitt) in the White House, Mitt in a tuxedo and she, wearing a jewel-adorned crown. “I’m royalty,” she thinks.

  16. fran says:

Ann just happens to have a whole lot of money, which happens to be in a “blind trust” & she will be interested to know just how much money might be in it.

We are supposed to believe Ann & Mitt have a huge sum of money they have no idea how much it is?
I’m sure it is designed for it to be blind/hidden to the public, but seriously… no paperwork or tracking?
Queen Ann’s motto can be “Let them eat (rhymes with Mitt)….. “

  17. Carol Foxx says:

She didn’t convince me about the honesty and integrity of Mitt…………I took offense of her comment to “YOU PEOPLE”…..But what would you expect of someone who pays $77,000 a yr. to house a horse when there are starving people in this country……They love this country so much, they avoid taxes with Swiss bank accounts and they love our people so much they can’t even donate to a food bank….Now I read that Mitt thinks middle class people are in the $200,000-$250,000 income.bracket………………..How out of touch can you be? And on foreign affairs—scary thought,,,,,
