Controversies have a nasty way of taking no hostages. This is certainly true for soap opera actress Melissa Reeves who plays Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux on NBC’s long running daytime drama, Days of Our Lives.
Reeves, who is a conservative Christian, tweeted her support for the bigoted, fast food chicken eatery with this:
What’s completely lost on this soap dope is the fact the controversy has nothing what so ever to do with free speech. But it has everything to do with Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy saying same-sex marriage will bring down God’s wrath on the USA.
You may be interested to know I visited Reeve’s Twitter account yesterday to tell her since she’s such an advocate of free speech, then she won’t mind me writing to the producer of Days of Our Lives demanding she be fired. Reeves promptly changed her Twitter account settings to private.

This is cray cray. My grandmother watches Days of Our Lives every day. Wait until I talk to her and explain one of the actresses on the soap is a hater. This will surely anger her enough to write to complain.
Days of Our Lives has a hugely popular, openly gay character named Will Horton.
How will the producers and writers manage to incorporate Melissa Reeves into the soap knowing she’s bigot and a homophobe? I think she may be unemployed very soon.
So Ms. Reeves now stands proudly with the likes of Mike Huckabee and Pat Boone. Seriously, I think I would prefer to slit my wrists.
Never heard of her before. But, so much for the enduring myth that Hollywood is universally liberal?

The scandal forced Ms. Reeves to leave DOOL on a moment’s notice. Her character was recast and played by Stephanie Cameron.
The contract violation lead to Ken Corday, Executive Producer of Days of Our Lives bring a lawsuit against her. Corday won and the settlement sum Corday donated to Pediatrics AIDS.
Typical “conservative christian”hypocrite. I use to watch Days. One day melissa reeve was just gone. It turns out and she acknowledged that she had been having an affair with a cast member and her husband made her quit. She was displaying some FINE christian values wasn’t she?????

I have no idea who this actress is, and I’m sure we’re all going to forget about her after she gets fired and has to either work at the local playhouse or do porn to put food on the table.
Melissa Reeves has every right to gorge on Chick-Fil-A and tweet about it. However, when you stand with the haters and you’re a public person, you’re opening yourself up to blow back. There’s an old axiom that says you’re known by the company you keep. Melissa Reeves is about to learn it.
Los Angeles is awash with unemployed, quality actors and actresses.
It really irks me that a hater like this cow has a job on a long-running soap opera. These men and women are paid well and have benefits. Reeves doesn’t deserve a spot on Days of our Lives.
She should be changing dirty Depends at an old folks home in Sylmar.
My mother has watched Days all my life. My mother is a bleeding heart, pro-gay Hispanic mama and she isn’t going to like this when I tell her.
I’ve watched Days for more than 30 years. I am all-too familiar with Melissa Reeves and her sleazy behavior on the set with fellow actors. If she’s so stupid to believe Chick-Fil-A is a free speech issue and not about the rights of gay and lesbian Americans, then I suggest she’s too stupid to act in a network soap. I sincerely hope Ken Corday terminates her services and recasts Jennifer Horton.
This is not the type of controversy a beleaguered network wants or needs. Trust me, Reeves is easily replaceable in the shrinking soap opera world.
I tried to engage her on Twitter to consider what the ramifications are for supporting Chick-Fil-A. No nasty words or name calling. Just an adult exchange.
Melissa Reeves wanted none of it. She immediately blocked me. Interesting how she says gorging on Chick-Fil-A is a free speech matter and nothing more? In any case, I have written to Ken Corday requesting she not continue on the soap once her contract expires. I find her offensive.

Love Days, I’m sure Missy Reeves who plays Jennifer is a nice person from what I hear. Hate her character on Days. She acts so serious about everything and tries to be miss fix it with everyone and everything. Always wining about Daniel or Chloe. Cant stand her character every time I see her I wanna cringe. She needs to live a little…. Hate her character would not miss her if she was taken off the show. Boring.. Blah, Blah, Blah!!!!
