Greece, NY School Bus Monitor Endured Cruel Bullying for Ten Minutes

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Karen Klein, a 68-year old Greece, NY school bus monitor, who worked for the school district for 23 years, endured ten minutes of pure, torturous hell from a group of students, who taunted Klein with profanity-laced insults, jeers, physical ridicule and outright threats to Klein’s person and home.

Klein, a grandmother of eight, received an outpouring of support from local residents in Greece — a suburb of Rochester, NY, and from people as far away as Britain and Australia.

By Thursday morning, the original video of the incident, taken by a student on a camera phone, went viral and had been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

  1. DMason says:

Even CNN had to pull themselves away from their Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman coverage to report this vile incident. Things have certainly changed since I was in school.

  2. Pechanga says:

These shitheads are minors which means they will get away with it.

It’s a shame they can’t be hung from their feet by a rope for 12 hours with no food or water. But these brats will just receive a slap on their hands.

  3. Abbey Peripatetic says:

I just heard on the radio the 4 punks who harassed this woman won’t face criminal charges. And so it goes for the American justice system.

    OJ Simpson
    John Edwards
    Roger Clemons
    Karl Rove
    Dharun Ravi

The list just keeps growing and growing.

  4. Chad Lebanon says:

Where the hell was the bus driver while this attack was underway? Ten minutes is a long time. I simply can’t believe the drive wasn’t away of what was going on behind him. Stand up to bullies!

  5. Matteo says:

A website has been launched to support Karen Klein. Here’s the link:

  6. Woodcliffe says:

This poor lady’s son died ten years ago from suicide. She didn’t deserve this vicious attack.

  7. Randy Arroyo says:

This is such a sad story. I am filled with rage seeing this lady taunted by these animals.

  8. Adirondacky says:

I want to give Kathy Klein a big hug.

  9. Eric Equality Kuntz says:

Southwest Airlines reached out to Karen Klein with airline passes and Disneyland in California has also sent her passes.

The fund started in her name is nearing $400,000 too.

Now she is seeing the other side of society. The good and decent side. I hope this helps her to heal.

  10. Joe in Colorado says:

But through it all, Karen Klein maintains these hooligans shouldn’t be prosecuted criminally. She’s the definition of grace under fire.

  11. Lori says:

I wouldn’t have been able to contain myself as well as she did. I would have killed those little bastards! They should all face criminal charges and be expelled from school!!!

  12. Peace Nick says:

The little darlings will be punished by the school district, not the courts.

This means they will suffer some terrible punishment like detention for a week and 40 hours of community service.

  13. Harry says:

Does anyone know why Karen’s son committed suicide? Was he sick?

  14. deb says:

What charming youngsters they are. Sadly, this is the future of America. We have become a society that refuses to punish bad behavior in our young people. I grew up in an era when corpral punishment was not forbidden. Parents and teachers were allowed to hand out spankings (not beatings) when necessary, and not be sent to the “big house” for child abuse. I’m guessing that the driver of the bus and all of the other students on board were unable to assist this woman…..more proof of the amoralistic society we have become. Mrs. Klein, you are a better person then I am. I am sure that the children you raised did not grow up to be torturing serial killers….these kids don’t stand a chance. Bless you and your ability to show courage and grace when most others cannot

  15. So these kids just are sitting there making fun of a lady, insulting her, saying that she’s destined to be “the fattest lady on earth”, threatining her, and saying some VERY rude things, and the bus driver didn’t even notice. Wow.
