The African nation of Malawi is set to make farts illegal and ruling is causing a stink.
According to a piece in the UK Daily Mail Newspaper:
The government of Malawi plan to punish persistent offenders ‘who foul the air’ in a bid to ‘mould responsible and disciplined citizens.’
But locals fear that pinning responsibility on the crime will be difficult – and may lead to miscarriages of justice as ‘criminals’ attempt to blame others for their offence.
One Malawian told the website Africanews.com: ‘My goodness. What happens in a public place where a group is gathered. Do they lock up half a minibus?
‘And how about at meetings where it is difficult to pinpoint ‘culprits’?
‘Children will openly deny having passed bad air and point at an elder. Culturally, this is very embarrassing,’ she said.
The crime will be enforceable in a new ‘Local Court’ system which will also have powers to punish a range of other crimes in the bill set to be debated in the country’s parliament.
Too bad they didn’t pass a law against stupidity.
This ranks as one of the dumbest laws I’ve ever heard of. Almost as dumb as forcing Americans to buy an Obamacare medical plan or risk a $700 fine enforced by the IRS.
Since Malawi is Madonna’s second home, I’m sure she’s thrilled.
So the government of Malawi is ignoring human biology? Bizarre.

Well, I won’t be going to Malawi anytime soon. They would convict me of crimes against the state and lock me up for life.
I think this is a sound policy. Malawi farts are the worst on earth.

Is it illegal to fart in your own home? If so these poor people are going to explode! Give it a month and the whole country will be dead fro holding in their gas!
