41 Obama White House Aides Owe the IRS $831,000 in Back Taxes

Friday, September 10, 2010

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Obama White House is awash with tax cheats.

Confirming the widely held view among us regular folks that Washington DC and its population of opportunistic Federal transients who see themselves as a special kind of person, superior to the average Americans who don’t work in the former swamp.

Federal employees across the U.S. owe $1 billion in unpaid taxes to the Internal Revenue Service and 41 of these tax scofflaws work for President Obama with that newly-decorated Oval Office.

You may recall Tom Daschle was once President Obama’s top pick to run Health and Human Services but it turned out the Democratic senator owed $120,000 to the IRS so he dropped out.

Then there was Goldman Sachs and Wall Street darling Timothy Geithner who owed $42,000 in back taxes and penalties to the IRS, which is one of the agencies that he’d be in charge of as secretary of the United States Treasury. Geithner wrote the check to the IRS and he was confirmed by a braindead Congress.

Privacy laws prevent the release of the names of the individual tax delinquent’s names but I can report that by the end of 2009, 41 people inside President Obama’s very own White House circle owed the government they’re allegedly running a total of $831,055 in back taxes.

In the House of Representatives, the body Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised in 2006 would be the “the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history,” 421 people owe a total $6,524,892 to the IRS. In the Senate, 217 owe $2,774,836. In the IRS’s parent department, Treasury, 1,204 employees owe $7,670,814 and at the Labor Dept., 463 owe $7,481,463. Eighty-one workers for the Federal Reserve System’s board of governors owe $1,076,733. Over at Eric Holder’s Justice Department, 1,971 employees still owe $14,350,152 in back taxes.

Is this a great nation or what?

  1. Joe in Colorado says:

But the single mother making minimum wage and who struggles to feed her child but fails to pay her taxes will get a knock on her frontdoor from an IRA agent demanding payment. I guess the rules are different if you work for the criminal enterprise called Washington DC.

  2. Hendrik Moller says:

Just typical. The ***TRUE CRIMINALS OF THE PLANET. i.e., politicians*** get away with it. But they want to lock up Wesley Snipes. Maybe the IRS is also short of being a legit Mafia. Fuck, I hate and despise these New World Order MOTHER FUCKERS. FUCK YOU ALL. Politicians are PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE. They are ALL greedy pests or pigs!!! Wealtlh and Power is ALL that matters to these C*NTS. The have no conscience. remorse. humanity and are simply put: ALL PSYCHOPATHS.

  3. R.J. says:

I remember when I owed $5k. I made payments in installments until I paid it off. All because I was afraid of getting that knock on the door because I didn’t have an asset to attach a lien to.

    Fucking tax cheats!

  4. Woodcliffe says:

    Amazing. I’m speechless.

  5. @18thCfriend says:

    I’m agreeing with R.J.

I have an elderly (82 years old) friend living in a rest home; her only repeat only asset is Social Security monthly retirement; she owes (less than $1k) in federal income taxes; IRS is now trying to levy on her monthly Social Security benefit, to try to collect the fucking unpaid taxes. Incredible! Nasty ass!

  6. DMason says:

My sister went through a rough divorce a few year ago. The guy she married turned out to be a doper and he refused to get treatment so she left him. Anyway, in the course of the dissolution of their marriage, she forgot to file her income taxes. She makes less than $50,000 a year. She filed late and had to fork over some huge penalties in late fees. The Feds treated my sister like a terrorist. I plan to show her this blog post so she can see how the elites live.

  7. Harry says:

The criminals who run the country. Thank you for this information and for not posting about Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, or burning Korans.

  8. Mets Fan says:

Leona Helmsley said, “Taxes are for the little people.”

When you work for “the Man,” you can get away with shirking your income tax liability and sometimes, even murder. Nice work if you can get it. As the USA spirals down the debt hole.

Like Harry said, thanks for avoiding the lazy memes of Beck, Palin and Quran burning. If I see or hear one more comment about these three people/topics I will vomit.

  9. Gleneagle says:

Christopher – The US Congress and members of the Obama team are a lot like Sharif El-Gamal. You revealed he owes more than $227,000 in unpaid real estate taxes to the city of New York yet, no one dare foreclose on him and the MSM refuses to mention it for fear of being called names.

Pelosi said she would run a tight, ethical ship. Well, it would appear she’s running a frat house.

  10. Randy Arroyo says:

I dated this guy who worked in the payroll department of a mid-sized company here in LA. He would tell me stories about the number of male employees who had their wages attached for back child support. He said the employees walk into payroll crazy, screaming and even threatening people but, it was a court order and payroll was just following the law. It’s strange to me how back child support could be collected but nothing can be done to collect back income taxes from federal workers?

  11. Adirondacky says:

1,971 Justice Dept employees owe $14 million in back taxes? Is this a joke? Numbers like this remind me of the stories I read about Ferdinand Marcos’ nepotism in the Philippines. I guess the U.S. has become a Third World, banana republic.

  12. Jolly Roger says:

Eh-I’ve made mistakes myself and wound up owing. If I’d had the kind of jack most of these guys have, the amount owed would be substantially greater.

It’s easy to do. We might not be dealing with scofflaws in every case here.

  13. chlost says:

In trying to balance all sides, I am not seeing anything about whether or not any of those listed in these numbers is paying the IRS on a payment plan or if they are just thumbing their nose at all of us. It is one thing to owe and be paying, another to owe and ignore.

  14. Bee says:

Now if only the republicans would pay their back taxes too, we could erase the entire national debt, build a new transcontinental high-speed rail system and send every kid in the country to a nice 4 year college.

  15. Robert Dennis says:

Just because they owe doesn’t mean they havn’t made arrangments to pay off the debt. Joe in Colorado – that only happens if you ignore or evade them. File the paperwork and if you owe pay it or make arrangements they leave you alone. A couple years ago I owed a couple thousand dollars, and as a normal person I don’t have an extra couple grand laying around to pay it off all at once. I made arrangements and paid it off. This kinds of story is only meant to incite. Owing back taxes does not make you a deadbeat. What’s missing in the story is how does this compare to the general population? How much is really delinquent? I am sure you can find about an equal number (percentage-wise) for any politician.

  16. dough boy says:

MR Obama could have given his fair share in taxes but chose not to. I must give him credit for his donations and I do trust his 1040 is correct
