Virtually ignored by the U.S. media is this extraordinary report from NASA.
Scientists from NASA on Tuesday revealed evidence of life on Mars. NASA unveiled the results of the recent Opportunity and Spirit probes sent millions of miles through the solar system to discover signs of extraterrestrial life.
The recent missions have gathered evidence of sulphates — or pond scum, on Mars, a strong indication there is water on the planet and therefore life.
Previous missions to Mars have concluded there is probably water on the planet.
But the NASA these missions have gone further than any others in proving there is life on Mars. The discovery of a sulphate called gypsum which, it has emerged recently, is found in large quantities among fossils in the Mediterranean.
Almost 30 other NASA missions to discover life in space, including one to bring back rocks from Mars – have already been planned.
There are also plans to visit Jupiter’s moon Europa to explore its deep underground ocean and a moon of Saturn, Enceladus, which spouted ice volcanoes.
Long-term missions will also return to Saturn’s biggest moon Titan, sending a balloon flying through its atmosphere and landing a probe in its surface lakes.

This is epic. The stuff that should be reported on the front page of every newspaper in the world and shown on every news broadcast. The discovery of any life in our solar system means it it unlikely we’re alone in the universe.
You’re absolutely correct. This is one of the most important stories of the year or the decade but, the US corporate media can’t be bothered to cover it.
Let’s see now? Life on Mars, or,
Tiger Woods
Sandra Bullock
Sarah Palin
Pope Ratzinger and the boys
Wall Street
Iraq
Take your pick. And the MSM wonders why they keep losing readers?

Can anyone find the original information on the NASA site, or from the researchers who made the announcement?
jfd001…google Phoenix Mars Mission and it will list the main web site for the mission which the UofA worked on. The findings of gypsum was reported when it happened, but the mission kind of just glossed over it, not saying that it was a sure discovery of life. I think they want to verify it further before making the claim.
It is stunning to consider. If life formed in more than one place in this solar system, there can be no doubt an abundance of life exists in the universe. I have always believed there was anyway.
For those who want the scientific findings, this is the place to see all of the analytical results.

Way cool!

Water on Mars (and life) means human may be able to colonize our nearby neighbor and use the planet as a launch point for deep space exploration.
Don’t expect CNN to report “life discovered on Mars” unless they can send Anderson Cooper to stand on the Martian surface and report it for a week. MSNBC has to send Joe and Mika, and FIXED News won’t report it unless the Martian life is solid Republican. Thus is the sorry state of cable news in the USA.
I just saw two stories on fox news. The first was that they found Noah’s arch and the hosts on fox news took that very seriously and they spent probably 5 to 10 minutes on it. After the commercial break they covered the mars story for about 2 minutes and for most of that time they just made fun of it. This is possibly the greatest discovery to this point and they treated it like a joke. Find some 2 by 4s in a cave and by god its proof that the stories of the bible are true. I used to like fox news but that pissed me off.
I’m really looking foward to these future missions the article spoke about. I hope they find something that even the most close minded people can’t dispute.
Every science department in schools should be publicizing this to inspire people to go into science. That is what will lift this economy out of the toilet. Doing things instead of masturbating on some of the stupid things out there like chat roulette.
Considering the possibility of other life in the universe is something that almost every thinking person has done at some point of their life. I have always wondered why we assume that life must be like us. There may be life in other forms which thrive in 2000 degree F heat, or are able to reproduce in areas with extremely high levels of radiation, or something else that would be impossible for humans. I am certain that life of some sort exists somewhere else. The chance is ridiculously low that we are the only place in this infinite universe (maybe there is more than one universe) which has some sort of life.
