When responding to charges of foot-dragging on fulfilling his campaign promise to repeal the viciously homophobic, Clinton-era ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy, President Obama often hides behind he’s just “abiding by the law.” Code for when the hapless Democratic Congress finally gets around to sending him a repeal bill, he will sign it.
But President Obama has found an unlikely kindred soul in the “abiding by the law” ruse in Marine Corps Gen. James T. Conway. Conway busy is circulating Pentagon memos voicing his vehement opposition to repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’
In “private conversations” that were telegraphed to the right-wing, Moonie-owned newspaper The Washington Times, Gen. James T. Conway flapped his piehole about how he “feels very strongly that [repealing the ban] would be disruptive, and he opposes it.”
Gen. James T. Conway doesn’t want any faggy soldiers.
So how did Conway reach his conclusion? According to the Times, he’s “the only chief known to have actively surveyed his generals on the impact of removing the ban.” Not that his colleagues in other branches of military appear to be so far from his position:
The four-star chiefs of the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Army have said little on the topic in public and have not been pressed by Congress to provide their professional opinions. All four declined to answer when asked for their personal opinions on the ban by The Times, except to say they will abide by the law.
Just like our “fiercest advocate,” President Obama.

Christopher – This clown is no more representative of most Marines than Lt. Cmdr. Syneeda Penland is representative of the Navy.
Just like civilians, the military is made up of many opinions. Some good, some offensive.
Trust me, there are already gays and lesbians in the Marines and 90% of enlistees just don’t care one way or another.

No, this idiot won’t “abide by the law,” he will abide by the Commander in Chief.
This is the other hat a president wears.
If Gen. James T. Conway isn’t sure if he can obey the Constitution, then he might want to retire. Now, if the president would start acting like the Commander in Chief and not a middle manager.

Conway is one man. Back in 2008, MSNBC reported that more than 100 retired generals and admirals called for the repeal of DADT.

What about military survivor benefits?
Unless full military survivor benefits are conveyed to the spouse, my advice is find other ways to serve your nation.

Conway will do as he’s told. He can whine all he wants but he isn’t there to make policy.

I have this vision of a General having nightmares of soldiers wearing accessories with their uniforms. Feather boas, faux pearls, etc. Soldiers adding a little swish to their cadence. Dumb assholes!

Gays and Lesbians due not have an equal right to commit murder or to belong to a continuing criminal enterprise. Any homosexual who wants to belong to the 21st century US military is not worthy of being a homosexual in the first place. No one straight, gay, or switch hitter, should have any interest in joining this disreputable organization unless they have joined for the purpose of corrupting the organization from the inside, such as by spying for the Venezuelans, or the Iranians. Sure the leadership of Iran is composed of a bunch of fascists but in the disputes that the US has with Iran the Iranians are 110% right and the US is 125% wrong.
Iranians are united in their support for nuclear power for their country. The US has chosen to beat the Iranian government over the head with this issue because they know that the government will not back down. That way the US government can eventually get the war that it wants.
Another legitimate reason to join the US military would be to join a conspiracy to put our nations leading war criminals in prison. But since it is highly unlikely that such a movement actually exists in the military a person would have to be really fanatic about supporting truth and justice, because ones chances of success are going to be extremely extremely small.
